Latest Bowl Projections; One SEC teams gets a BCS Bowl?!

From CNNSI; SI.com - Writers - Stewart Mandel's Bowl Projections - Monday November 13, 2006 11:58AM

UT vs Penn State Outback Bowl

FL vs Wisconsin Capital One

Ark vs Notre Dame Sugar Bowl

LSU vs Nebraska Cotton Bowl

I hate the BCS more every year.

The SEC runner up isnt even projected into a BCS bowl anymore, but Wake Forest and Rutgers get into the Orange Bowl.

Boise State gets to play Texas in the Fiesta Bowl.

That doesn't surprise me since the loser of the SECCG will have at least two losses.

I don't think the Outback Bowl will pick us over Auburn.

If the Vols win out it will be the Outback. Don't forget that the Chick-fil-A/Peach picks ahead of the Outback.

That I did not know. I always thought that it was Capital One, Outback, Cotton, Chic-Fil-A/Peach, etc.

Dang, you are probably correct. I see where it says they are listed alphabetically, not in picking order.

It can't be surprising that the SEC runner-up isn't projected into a BCS bowl, since no loser of that game has EVER made it into a BCS game. And there isn't a one-loss SEC team sitting on the outside of that game, like there frequently is.

I just noted in another thread that the Atlanta newspaper reported that Georgia has been told that they will be invited to the Chick-fil-a/Peach if they beat Georgia Tech. It's possible that we end up there against the loser of the ACC championship game if Tech beats Georgia.

I just don't want to have to get up at dawn's crack on New Year's Day for the Cotton Bowl again. Argh!

If Georgia gets invited to the Peach Bowl there will be one team that is going to get screwed big time. The winner of the SECCG gets the auto-bid to the BCS and UGA going to the Peach Bowl would leave, the loser of the SECCG, LSU, Auburn, UT to occupy spots in the Capital One, Outback, and Cotton. One of those four teams would have to take a spot in the Music City or Independece or whatever has the next choice. The way our luck goes with Bowl selections that scares the hell out of me.

I love how 2 Big East teams get BCS Bowls, Rutgers in the Orange Bowl, and West Virginia in the Rose Bowl and the SEC, the toughest conference gets One BCS team. Isn't the BCS the best?

I wish I were kidding. Here's the link, though this article doesn't make it sound like the done deal that was being reported on the radio here. In any event, it would help tremendously if Georgia loses that game next Saturday.

I think we would be the Peach Bowl's last choice.
