Can anyone either post a link to a video of that leak fumble that everyone is questioning, or perhaps post a link to a florida message board that would have it?

My buddy and I are arguing about whether this was really a fumble.

I think it had to be a fumble, even if the guy didn't hit the ball because while the arm did move forward, at the end Leak pulled back trying to hold the ball. His arm was so far down when he dropped it that it wouldn't have been a pass to anyone.

He most definately was not trying to pass that ball, so the movement of the arm didn't matter, in my opinion.

My biggest thing was this.....

If he were passing the ball, it would have had more velocity on it instead of simply falling to the turf. The ball would have gotton past the defender, or hit him in the hands or helmet.

When the ball came out, Leak's arm was moving DOWN, not forward. He was about to tuck the ball and take the sack, and the ball fell out of his hand.

Fumble, right call made.

I saw it for the first time there, and I have to say that there's no indisputable video evidence to overturn the call on the field. Previous posters have correctly indicated that there's no "tuck rule" in NCAA, and with that release point I definitely don't think it's conclusive that he's trying to throw.

No way he is trying to tuck the ball back in...his arm continues to move forward and out after the ball is gone. I don't see the "tucking motion" you guys are talking about. If anything, he was trying to throw it into the defender.

It's not like it matters anyway now.

I disagree, but it was definitely a close call. The moral to the story is don't have protection breakdown on a big play in the red zone and don't stand there like a deer in headlights as the pressure approches.
