| what does it say about our team when uab beats osu by 19? (90-71) sure the Texas win was nice (and we'll see how nice when they face memphis) but i can't help but be skeptical with our past. thoughts?

| Use the same premise and the UT Football team would have beaten Miami last night 43-3.

| Any winning UT does this year in mens basketball is an automatic plus considering that Bruce is basically playing with Buzz's players. This guy is winning with Dane Bradshaw playing at a Forward position! My expectations are zilch for this year so that is making the wins even better. I had forgotten how it had felt not to have high expectations of a UT sports program. It is nice to just enjoy a game without breaking down every aspect of the team and all of the what if's and should be's that come along with it. Week after week after week . . .
Let Bruce get his recruits on the floor and then lets evaluate a season's progress at that point. |

We are not nearly as good as we looked against Texas and not as bad as we looked against OSU. | exactly.

| Too early in the season to tell much about ANY basketball team. Especially, a very averaged talented thin squad w a new coach introduching a new offense & a demanding defense.
One thing I certainly would bet on every year...Tubby Smith will have his team ready to go by seasons end.
Someone mentioned UT's Football Team would have beaten UM by 40 points. Ha! To that I say dream on! One things for sure UT was LUCKY to have played LSU when they met. LSU has improved and expanded their offense. The Tigers ran some pretty cool unconventional plays, something I hope UT's new Staff will consider doing.
Our 8 play 30 year old offensive scheme has been way over exposed & simply too predictable to defend. WHY ANY Head Coach would allow that to happen at a big time program shows me he's totally out of touch.
Not only did LSU kick some UM a_ _ on the field, evidently they kicked some bonus butt in the tunnel sending a couple UM "soldiers" to the hospital. Sad too bad more UM THUGS weren't injured. |

| Congrats to UAB :post-20645-1119625378:
They lost several key players but their scheme (much like Pearl's) gives them a shot at just about any team. Anderson is a great coach that gets the absolute most out of his players - I think Pearl does as well.
My guess is that UAB stayed hot in shooting whereas the Vols clearly did not and began to rush shots. UAB has lost to DePaul, got pounded by Western KY and lost a heartbreaker at Minnesota.
Bottomline, I don't think it means squat. As someone else said; we're probably not as good as we looked against Texas and not as bad as we did against OSU. I really like what Pearl is doing. I think we have a good shot at the tourney.

| Lots of Ball to be played. Im excited about the direction BP has us in. Some unexpected wins are just gravy, I think Texas had something else on their mind and we got a little big for our shorts in the OSU game. Our depth is zilch and fouls are going overboard.

UAB is an experienced team in an established system. I think if we had a little more depth on the front line the score might have been different.. We rely alot on perimenter shooting, primarily from Lofton. It's hard to shoot when an athletic 6'9 post player is guarding you. Give it time. Let Bruce get the system in place and the depth to run it. The results might be different :D |

| I think it's important for everyone to realize how shallow and small our team really is. Aside from Wingate (and only then, at times), we lack any sort of real inside presence. And, now twice, our lack of depth has manifested: late in the OSU game, and against Lipscomb after only one day of rest.
I hope everyone also realizes how much Bruce has done with what he has to work with. Trust me, teams around the SEC are quaking in their boots as they see our success this year and the threat of what is to come once we strenthen our squad in the coming year or two.
