Season Ticket Query

Okay...is it better to buy the season tickets or try getting a better deal on game days?

I recognize for the non-Florida/Bama games, it's a buyers market with the scalpers...

For $950 (250 + shipping plus tickets), I can have a pair nonrenewable tickets...is this really worth it or am I likely to get a better overall deal just by going to the scalpers?

Honest opinions please...

i always recommend the scalpers. you pay a bit more for the bigger games, but can grab the lesser games for 10, sometimes for free.

this year, with our home schedule, the number of lesser games are greater than the big games by far.

figure at least 150/pair for Bama/UF and figure at most 60/ pair for the other games, and there is you answer.

the advantage of going the other way means you have peace of mind the tickets are yours as you leave for the stadium.

Peace of wallet is better for me than peace of mind...

What has me worrying is I'm looking at the prices right now on eBay for the Florida/Bama games...

disregard those prices. street prices will be less. i'd be surprised if you spent over 200/ pair for Florida and probably shocked if you paid over 175/ pair for Bama.

to add, i wouldn't go to the game for those prices. that money can be better spent enjoying yourself at the bar.

Smashville, doozer is correct on scoring your tickets on the street and spending your hard earned cash in a bar.

If you buy on the street for the big games make sure you really look at what you are buying (Avoiding Couterfeit Tickets).

I wrote the book on the subject. Check it out here:

The Poor Man's Guide To Buying Scalper Tickets

Enjoy the season and go Vols!

Ticket availability and prices are in direct relation to wins and loses. If both UT and UF have rolled up their opponents, that will be a tough ticket.

A UF loss would put tons of N Ill and Miss St tix on the street.

UAT will be tough regardless of record.

Wyoming and UK (Thanksgiving weekend) should be easy regardless of our record.

tickets

i don't think you will get bama and florida for $150/pair...

face is $75 each...
more power to you if you can but i would bank on spending atleast $200/pair if you are lucky

do you plan on selling many of them?

honestly, it depends on your financial status. if you're hurting to pay the bills, 950 for anything that isn't a necessity seems excessive. on the other hand, if you're making a good living and have them money to spend, why not?

i think i will prob get non-renewable tickets this year. saw some ads for them on craigslist last year but couldn't bring myself to do it. regretted it the whole year. now with the home-game lineup for the upcoming season, i can't not buy them. anyone know a reputable seller?

they're always more than that online. almost twice what you quoted, in fact. last year i tried getting bama tickets at the stadium and at 15 mins past kickoff, the lowest price that we saw was 100 each in nose bleed.

Ok - so I'm the OPs buddy, we'll be attending the games in question together.

The real question I have is... if I walk up to a scalper wearing nothing on the upper half of my body save an orange sequined bra, do you think I can work out some sort of discount for us?

I have seen a few people post pairs of tickets on the message boards for $800. That's a very fair price and if I lived closer to Knoxville I would snatch those up.

I am an out-of-towner planning on driving over for the Florida game. The scalpers are going to gouge people for that game. Go on Ebay and watch ticket prices for that game start escalating in the last 5 minutes by 2 dueling scalpers. They go up to double the price and then the scalpers mark them up on the street.

Florida, Georgia, and Alabama games are always tough to get for decent price. The only way you could get a reasonable price on the street for those games is if Tennessee gets smashed at the beginning of the season. So if UCLA beats Tennessee first game, then the prices may come down some.

Even last year after Cal and Florida thumped UT, the prices for the UGA game were still pretty high. We got some tickets for that game for about $90/per. And they were going well over $100/per by most of the scalpers that day.

She's at least a 10...probably more of a 12 or 13...

But she has the kind of luck that if she does it, it will be unseasonably below freezing and sleety...
