About 2 weeks ago, I would have said no way, 2day we have an outside shot. I still believe it will be tough to beat out Texas. Jordan Hicks appears to be thier main guy, UF still has alot of schollys and can pull possibly Luc, Powell, etc. I think UT should beat OK barely even with White ending up at OK. I say UT ends up 3rd as well, and possibly 2nd on Scout.

#1 class, yes, yes, and double yes. We are getting the players that we feel that fit our system. That makes our class #1. NO ONE WILL OUTWORK US> YOU BETTER GET UP EARLY AND GO TO BED LATE.

We wont be ranked any higher then we are now by NSD top 3 is what we will have at best. I am just hopeful to stay in the top 5.

the final ranking is less important to me than the positions we fill. If we signed only the top DB's, RB's this year and reach #1, I would not be happy. However, if we restock the OL, sign a top LB or 2, and then fill in the gaps in other areas I will be estatic - even if it's "only a top 10 class" and not top 5 (which we still might acheive).

Next year, with fewer holes we'll be able to load up on the stars and build up that 2 and 3 deep in key positions.

Nice post, and I agree...I am not even sure we need another RB. Don't forget Toney Williams is red shirting with the knee injury, so he will be just like a freshman next year. O-line, another DB, Jeff Luc!!!!! I could live with that if i had too

Couldn't agree more!

look at Florida...they have 4 very highly ranked safties...and they have an absolute ton on their team now..including last years dee finley and will hill....

Ill take this years class with some more OL ranked whatever they rank it all day long....

I say we have a top 5 class this year, although i definitely agree with nash101, the rankings don't really matter. Although it does show that our coaches are going out and working hard to get the top players in the nation, I love the enthusiasm they have showed. Now if we could just win some games...

AMP: Vols hit 4-star trifecta - Rivals.com Video

Take a look at this video if you haven't already. Mike Farrell has some really good things to say about UT's class and the way we will finish this class off...

I think the rankings are important since the recruits take a look at them. Finishing #1 or #2 would make a huge statement to 2011 recruits, reinforcing our staffs message about where this program is headed. Top prospects want to play with and compete against other top talent and have confidence that championships are in the immediate future.

Florida, USC, and Tennessee will finish very strong. All three are still in on an incredible number (dozens) of 4 & 5 star prospects. All three will fill out there classes with only 4 & 5 star recruits. Texas is in on only 5 (but all 5 star), may land 1 or 2. LSU and Oklahoma just not in on as many as the three above.

I predict we finish #2 behind Florida.

It would be great to have the number one recruiting class, I don't know the last time Tennessee has accomplished that but like nash101 said, the final rankings don't mean squat, because you still have to get them enrolled and you have to develop them. Look at Alabama when they had the number 1 class, while they did go undefeated in the regular season they collapsed in their final two games including the sugar bowl. But it would be great to have a class like that because it shows that we're starting to catch up to all the big boys in the SEC in terms of talent. Go Vols
