After a tip from a reader, I spoke with a friend in Knoxville who told me that Dominique Ferguson was scheduled to visit the Vols in Knoxville this past weekend. Ferguson has opened up his recruitment since Calipari arrived and it looks like Bruce Pearl has attempted to jump in and make a steal. This is not confirmed and I would welcome any proof one way or the other, but as for now, it looks as if ol Rocky Top may be a contender for the one Gillispie recruit from the future that Calipari does want.

"I liked the campus and everything a lot," Ferguson said. "Playing in the tournament down there, I had a chance to walk around and check everything out. Obviously I got a chance to see the facilities and all, and I really liked their arena, it was cool. Everything down there was really nice."

"I like coach Pearl a lot, he's just a real down to earth guy," Ferguson offered. "He's really easy to talk to and joke around with but he can definitely be serious.

"I could see myself playing for coach Pearl. I could see myself playing for several different coaches but he's one of them."

"Right now I'm just listening to the different schools that are trying to recruit me and give them all a chance. I was going to try and cut my list down to five schools I was ready to get serious about next week, but now I think that's just too quick," Ferguson said of his new timetable.

"I'll probably try to get it down to five sometime in the summer. One thing I know for sure right now is that I'm going to take a few official visits in the fall before I commit. I may not take all five of them, but I want to take at least a couple and enjoy the process a little bit and not be so rushed."

"I'm not ready to say who my top-five might be, but Tennessee is a school I'm interested in right now," he said. "I've seen them play a lot and I really like their stye. Coach Pearl talked to me a lot about how I could do a lot of the same things in the offense that Tyler Smith does, and how they can really take advantage of a 'four' with my skills."

Reading his words, I think he meant it when he said he liked our facilities and coach, but I unfortuanately get the impression that he wasn't serious about us, given his other options.
