I can't see Walker going pro after just one year of starting. That hurts his draft stock by that alone, plus he seems like the kinda guy who just loves UT and would come back anyways.

"I just really enjoyed looking at some of the facilities and looking at their depth charts and the quality of players," said Fortt, who plans to attend camps at Georgia and Florida later this month. "I'm not saying they have bad linebackers, but I think I have a good chance of coming in and trying to get some playing time."
says he wants to learn more about the academics

Confident young man. I like his attitude. Getting this guy would be huge. He is a beast, and he's right he could help us out at LB right away.

I wonder what field he is wanting to go into? Makes big difference on UT's academics, Business or Engineering and he should be in good shape! Political Science or journalism....not so much.

Fortt seemed particularly intrigued by the possibility of seeing the field early at UT.

Finally, there have been many whispers about Stamford (Conn.) High linebacker Khairi Fortt being close to a commitment to Penn State. Fortt has been visiting numerous schools over the past few weeks, and it appears North Carolina has become the biggest threat to Penn State. But he long has been considered a Nittany Lions lean, and it wouldn't be a stunner if Fortt joined the 2010 Penn State class before the end of the summer.

Fortt is heading to Penn State by himself this weekend to hang with the players and see about college life. If Fortt doesn't commit early, he will take official visits to Penn State, North Carolina and possibly USC. He has upcoming unofficial visits to Georgia and Florida that also could factor into his decision.

"Some of these colleges, I'm not trying to waste their time, and they're not trying to waste my time, because there are other kids out there that they need and I don't want to hold up that scholarship if it could be give to somebody else. We're going to Georgia on Friday, and after Georgia, then that's when we're announcing what the five schools are."

Georgia is the only scheduled visit at this point, although Florida's "Friday Night Lights" camp may also be a possibility. He will also participate in the Gridiron Kings seven-on-seven championships in Orlando, will be visiting family in Florida and be a part of the Top Gun Showcase from July 29-31, also in Orlando.
