| Silent Commits Ok, so there are rumors flying around all the time about silent commits. With the wavering of Thigpen, Oku, Stokes....... this fuels these rumors. I have heard that recruits such as Graves, Myles, King, M. Brown, Teague, Jeffry (sp?)......... and several more could be silents.
I was just wondering what everyone thought about all of these rumors. Do you think they are legit? If so, which ones? What evidence has been presented to back these claims?

| Who knows? Especially when you're trying to get in the minds of 17-18 year old kids. Hell, sometimes I wonder what I was thinking when I made some decisions I made when I was 18. But I have to say the Oku thing puzzles me. From one day supposedly not taking visits to two weeks later preparing for his second trip elsewhere? I don't know. |

| I hope that there are several of those who are "silently" committed to the Vols, but I think it's highly unlikely, personally.
I'm not sure who it benefits to make a "silent" commitment. Coaches want the momentum that the landing of a big recruit can often bring. Recruits like the attention that a commitment brings - both by the schools who they commit to, and those others left behind, as they are just as likely to re-double their efforts than to simply give up on the guy. Posted via VolNation Mobile | I think that the specific situation we have would make it more realistic that we have a couple of silent commits.
At most points in the year, your point is completely correct, players want attention and programs want the good PR of the commits (and the lower number of scholarships to pressure other prospects that are on the fence).
This year we have a different dynamic though. We have several highly rated prospects visiting with a very small window before NSD. At this point, very few recruits want to announce prior to NSD, and some of the more highly rated ones may even have agreements with broadcast networks to not announce prior to NSD. Also, our new coaching staff has done a good job of giving UT recruiting momentum without needing the public commitments. Just look at the number of players that were never considering UT before the last 2-3 weeks. With these two factors in mind, I could see some logic behind a few players committing to the coaches and requesting that their intentions remain hidden until NSD.
All that said, I wouldn't count on many players to stick with their public or private commitments this recruiting season. It just seems like all of them are looking around sometimes. |

| I think Teague may have called CLK and said he's on board

| Doesn't matter These days, it doesn't matter if they are public, silent or anything else. What only matters is if they sign on signing day or thereabouts. i mean, look at Jarvis Giles. HE was supposedly wavering all the way up to walking to his first class in Columbia. There are always going to be the negative selling coaches out there getting these kids to rethink their sicheyation. Even UF is worried about losing recruits. But, for what it's worth, this is really why all of us are so glued to the net to see the latest movings. IT's awesome, to me. |

Of those you list as silent, I think that Teague, Jeffery, King, and Graves are likely, Lacy is 50/50, and we have about a 1% chance with Randle (0% if he doesn't suddenly decide to visit this weekend). |
