| Maybe he doesn't realize that jersey numbers are just numbers. It's kind of immature to factor in a jersey number to the biggest decision of his life thus far.

| I highly doubt OC is basing his decision on jersey number.

| Without directly giving away the source, somebody who actually spoke to Orson's family asked how important the number really was. The response was a bit surprising, to say the least. The number was VERY important, according to a real close family member. Close enough that they accompanied OC in LA.
Several SC insiders claim Barkley offered him the jersey. However, since Barkley is being hailed as the chosen one, I doubt this to be entirely true. On the other hand, the number 6 is now available to MB. And the bookstore could move the rest of the 6 jersey's they currently have in stock.

| I don't think he will base his entire decision on the jersey number, but it will be a factor.
Kind of stupid if you ask me...but you didn't. ;) |

| Some of these stories are straight out of Hollywood. To have the most prominant and storied football programs in America (minus UF) offering you a free ride is not good enough. So many choices, so much diversity offered in the various schools. Everybody rolling out the perverbial red carpet.
But, in the end, make sure you have the prospect's preferred jersey number, just in case.
Not that anybody here gives a rat's butt, but this has been a prominant story at SC in the past. Ever hear of a dude named Desean Jackson? Or, as he is referred to at SC, MEsean?
Well, MEsean was thought to be a Trojan commit sometime shortly after his momma brought him into this world. A little before signing day, Desean was informed that Patrick Turner would wear the number 1. MEsean thought they were showing preferential treatment to a Tennessee boy, and was not too thrilled to say the least. Then, he shook the West Coast with a 7.1 magnitude with his announcement to play for Cal. So, it definitely matters to some more than others.

| So, instead of playing for SC, he has forever been immortalized on youtube for getting absolutely lit up by Kevin Ellison. MEsean seriously might have been the difference-maker that would have led to a few more titles. But, he chose instead to lose every year to SC and vanish in those games like Casper. All because of a number!
I saw him in LA recently, and my friend told MEsean he will always be #1 in the hearts of Trojan fans. I'm not sure he appreciated/understood the sarcasm.
