Biggest In-State misses for Georgia

Yes, I know this is a UT site but I thought this article on the Rivals page for Georgia was interesting. The only reason I'm putting this thread on here is that it points out a couple of Tennesee players. I bet you can name one of the two without opening up the link.

Georgia really gets some great highschool players. I wish we had that kind of talent in our state.

BTW, anyone else notice all the gramatical errors. What do they teach there in Georgia anyway?

Two I can think of are Jamaal Lewis and Eric Berry just to us without looking.(dont have sub)

We used to own the state of Georgia when Garner was here.

Sorry for those people without a Rivals sub. It mentions Eric Berry, of course, and Jabari Davis. I know some people will question that one but in fairness, he was a big time prospect in that state that year.

2007 – Eric Berry

5-foot-11, 194-pounds – Defensive Back
Creekside High School – Fairburn, Georgia

Quick Hitter: Quite possibly the best athlete to come out of Georgia the past decade, and likely the most athletic coming out of high school in 2007, Berry was the prize recruit that had Defensive Coordinators salivating over the thought of him cutting off one side of the field. He was just a special player, and the Dawgs knew it too. They gave it all they had, but the family ties were to strong, with his father being a defensive captain in the 70's.

Where are they now? After starting all 14 games as a true freshman, Berry earned Freshman All American honors with 86 tackles, five interceptions, four pass breakups, two fumble recoveries and a forced fumble. He also had 222 yards in interception returns, good for second-most in the nation and breaking a 37-yard old Tennessee record. He returns at SS and is already one of the best in all of college football.

Other prospects under consideration in 2007: Allen Bailey (Miami), Morgan Burnett (Georgia Tech), Antwane Greenlee (FSU), and Cameron Heyward (Ohio State).

They didnt want to go back further to show the dominance we had in the state in the 90s' in recruiting.

Thing is with UGA is they dont have such a stranglehold on the state due to love of the school. They have maybe the best recruiter out there and he showed it by pulling those kids to Knoxville. Auburn is right on the border and gets alot, and alot of the south Georgia people are as much Florida fans as UGA.

That might have had something to do with the general state of UGA's program during that period as well.

head1, I completely disagree. Have lived in GA and have relatives there. That state is incredibly Red and Black. Just take a look at their roster and then look at how many early commits they've gotten from in state.

Just like any state, they have some kids that are fans of other schools but the vast majority pull for the Dawgs.

Imo when we recruit GA well we seem to have a better overall class.
