Scout Profile

Miami (FL) Dr. Krop

Ht: 6-foot-1
Wt: 246 lbs
Forty: 4.95 secs
Vertical: 31 inches
Shuttle: 4.5 secs

Linebacker Quan Fletcher (6-1, 230) is the 2009 recruit most colleges stop by and visit now. Fletcher wasn't practicing Monday when I visited Krop (he had his right pinkie in ice). But he looked to be in a lot better shape physically than he did a year ago. That's because he has lost nearly 20 pounds. After weighing more than 240 last season, Fletcher has gotten leaner and plans to play at around 230 this season. He was timed with 4.67 speed in the 40-yard dash recently -- his fastest time ever -- and likely will play a little bit at running back this season.

Pittsburgh was checking him out Monday. Fletcher said he already has several offers, including a written one from Purdue. Florida State, Central Florida, Tennessee and South Florida also are very interested. Fletcher said he grew up a Hurricanes fan while playing at North Dade Optimist. But he said the one thing he learned from Sabino's recruiting process a year ago was ``to keep an open mind and pick the best fit for himself.''

has offers from UCF, Florida State, North Carolina, South Carolina and Florida but says he would prefer to leave the state.
7/1

From CaneSport...has offers from the likes Tennessee, Auburn, Florida and Florida State and expresses some disappointment that the Canes aren't showing more interest. No favorites.

It must suck having a virtual breeding ground of unreal talent all around your campus. I just cant really imagine how good Miami should have been the past 10 years with good coaching. Now they can just cull kids like this and not think twice. I am sure they are passing him because of the freakin LB class they pulled in last year.

Well from having a wife in the school system and seeing tons of names like this and wondering I would think it would be like vkb says, Kwanthony, and he probably gets called Quan.

Sounds like a bad ass MLB or put 20-30lbs and he would be a great athlete at DE.

From what I've read, Miami's facilities are pretty bad. Other than it being the home town... there's alot of reasons to not got to the U.

Its not just the home town down there. Around the Miami area, "The U" is it, to most kids in that area it is a dream to play there. Alot of those kids come from nothing to begin with so facilities mean nothing to them only they are playing for the school that they grew up idolizing. Add to that they have been the top NFL producing school in recent history and there are many many reasons for kids in that area to want to goto Miami.

I don't know if a 4.95 40 would cut it for an SEC linebacker.

Still not lighting the world on fire but a solid time for his size.
