Getting the stars out of my eyes

Seeing as how linemen are such a priority, and not much progress is being made with the "elite" prospects, I thought I'd put out a call for any info on the following in-state OL and DL prospects who list the Vols as a school of interest (some high interest) and who may be underated. Latest info from Scout does not show that any of them have offers from UTK at this time. Can any of these guys play on the line in the SEC? Any sleepers in this bunch? Would the Vols accept commits from any of these guys at this time? Could any of these guys play in the SEC as true freshmen? I am guessing that some of you have actually seen these guys play and may even know some of them personally. Any insight is welcome. Feel free to add names.

Logan Massengale OT Ravenwood (Brentwood)
William Judson OT Ravenwood (Brentwood)
Kevin Revis OG Rhea County (Evansville)
Hunter Beedle OG Sullivan South (Kingsport)
Chase Phillips OG South Doyle (Knoxville)
Courtney Easterwood OG Christian Bros. (Memphis)
Wesley Johnson OG MBA (Nashville)
Sean Conway OG Father Ryan (Nashville)
Jebb Lenhart OG Pigeon Forge
Barry Dabney DT Brentwood Academy
Curtis King DT Trezevant (Memphis)
Alex Smithson DT Riverdale (Murfreesboro)
Hakeem Worthen DE South Doyle (Knoxville)

I did not list Will Jackson guys who is higher rated, but I guess the same questions apply to him.

Worthen would be a good pick up, imo. I think he scored in the top 5 nationally in the SPARQ testing for DL.

not that espn is any good at recruiting, but they have
Courtney Easterwood, Wesley Johnson, and Zac Tait on their top 150.
Also Marlon Brown, Eric Gordon, Zach Rogers, and Gene Robinson also on the list.

How good are those three lineman?

who else is recruiting them?

any other SEC schools? That would be the best answer to your "SEC Level" question.. I'll check Rivals to see where they are in there. I've heard on a few of them that they are not BCS level players..

I did a quick look at Rivals

Here would be my guess oin those in your list:

The following players are not even listed in Rivals database:

Judson
Lenhart
Smithson
Worthen

I would not consider them SEC Level at this point. Could show up during fall season.

Following players have no offers. Could be grade issues or something else. If grades, schools will hold off offering them until much later. In Tennessee's case, they sure don't want the fact they have someone who may not even get in to be used against them while recruiting someone from out of state. I'm not sure any are SEC level players (have heard Dabney is not)

Beedle
Phillips
Dabney
King
Conway

Following players have offers and schools are listed:

Johnson - Duke, Kentucky, Memphis, Vandy & MTSU (he is real small for OL)
Easterwood - Only UT
Jackson - GAT, Kentucy, Ole Miss, NC St, Vandy, Wake, W Va, Marshall & MTSU
Revis - Duke
Massengale - MTSU

From my limited review, you don't compete with Florida, Georgia, LSU and Alabama with these type players. Need lineman that is for sure, but if you aren't getting the elites that the big boys are getting, you are just going backwards....

Tait is class of 2010 now with his injuries and he could be the top player in the state if he gets back to 100%.

If Worthen's SPARQ score was that good then it is would be worthwhile to be tight with him early in the process and maybe even get a commit.

Those measurables can usually be developed by a quality coach like Brooks.

That's the Top 150 Watch List. What they're doing is not giving out the grade for 80+. They're holding those, then they'll make a decision on who's the best of the best, and release their rankings at the same time.

I know two of these players

I have seen both Massengale and Judson play on several occasions. Judson missed the entire junior year due to a back injury. Likely reason for not getting much attention. Back on the field now and weighing in at 300#. No way to play at the SEC level as a freshman. He is also very young and would be a good candidate to redshirt. Easily could be 340 or better when he finishes college. Massengale is much more athletic, but very small. He only weighs around 240#. Built more like a DE or TE than a lineman.
