Really, I'd love to see Gordon commit. I think he's the best out of the group. No reason, just watching the highlights he looks to be more of a elite SEC athlete

Yes, but you are 10x more likely to go pro from an SEC school. Better competition, better coaching, more exposure = better chance of making it to the league.

Myles seems to be down to the Vols, Auburn, and LSU per Hubbs. I really feel as though his relationship with Inky will be the difference.

If the Vols are going to take 8 more commitments as indicated, if we get these:

Oku, Marlon Brown, Askew, King, Pete White, Morgan Moses, 2-3 more DTs, so I can see us only taking 2 more DBs at the most. I think preference would probably go to the one who looked best at CB, as we have Vereen, Anderson, Wilks, and others behind Berry, Morley, and Rogan at safety. It seems easier to turn a player into a safety from corner than vice versa.

Exactly. If you are already used to playing a high level of competition you will see the field sooner in the NFL and probably have a more productive career. You CAN make it out of a small school but you have to be amazingly talented. There are a lot of SEC players who get drafted that would never see the NFL if they played at a no-name school. NFL coaches know the quality of SEC coaching and you can bet they look at players coming out of the SEC early and often.

Myles, hands down. Some of it is his ability and some is the big picture We get Myles and we open the pipeline again.

LSU's Miles reaffirms offer to Myles Jr. on weekend visit | College recruiting | ajc.com

Darren Myles Jr. met in Baton Rouge on Sunday with LSU head coach Les Miles, who reaffirmed his scholarship offer to safety from Carver of Atlanta.

Myles Jr. then reaffirmed his desire to wait until after his high school season before making a decision but said that LSU was among his handful of favorites.

“Coach Miles told us that safety is a position of need, that he likes his ability to come up and force the run and he felt like he can help right away,” Darren Myles Sr., the player’s father and high school coach, said by phone from Baton Rouge. “He told us he was willing to take his commitment right now. Then he paused.”

And Myles Jr. did not answer.

“The [Miles] followed with, ‘Of course, you don’t have to make a decision now.’ Darren knows not to say anything. We’ve got an understanding. It’s not going to be a surprise. So I said, ‘At this time, we’re not going to commit. But of course, you stand right up there at the top. If we did a top five, you’d be in there. But to commit now is not something we’re ready to do.’ ”

Myles Jr. is rated the No. 5 safety nationally by Rivals.com and No. 12 by Scout.com. He was among several high-end recruits visiting LSU this weekend. Others included linebacker Jarvis Jones of Carver-Columbus, cornerback Branden Smith of Washington and quarterback Russell Shepard of Houston, who is committed to LSU. Myles spent much of his time with Smith, his rival from Atlanta city schools.

Myles Sr. said this was his son’s sixth unofficial visit to a top school. He also has seen Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia and Georgia Tech. He also wants to visit Ohio State and West Virginia, but those probably will not come until the fall as official visits, Myles Sr. said.

Myles Sr. grew up in Louisiana and attended Douglass High of New Orleans and was recruited by LSU in football before going to Purdue. Myles Sr. came to Atlanta’s Douglass High in 1996, when Myles Jr. was 6. But Myles Sr. said that his family’s ties to Louisiana would be no factor in his son’s decision.

“He hasn’t been there since he was 6,” Myles Sr. said. “Darren’s 17 now. Just because we’re from New Orleans, it’s not a shoo-in. It’s what they offer him now as a football player and student-athlete. It has to be a good situation.”
this is older, but I bring it up because I beleive that it's either us or LSU

The only one of the top-five-ranked safeties yet to make a college choice is Darren Myles Jr. (Atlanta, Ga./Carver). He really stands out at free safety. Myles is a sure open-field tackler who is smart enough to use the sideline as the 12th defender. Myles has excellent timing on the blitz and can redirect if necessary.

Myles is capable of lining up at safety and corner.

Myles is one of those rare safeties who can play three-deep zone or halves coverage with equal ability. He displays a real burst when breaking from the middle of the field or from the hash. Myles has the hips and athletic ability to possibly play corner at the next level.

They will not turn away any top prospects. They will "make" room if need be.

we're going to sign over 25 players, not every player will make it in.
