SI.com has Tennessee as the biggest flop.

Even with great classes I prefer to take a wait and see attitude considering the fact we have had a difficult time keeping some of our better athletes on the team.

This is not a great class, but all it would have taken to satisfy me would have been two four star DTs......

From The Tennessean....
One year after Rivals.com rated UT as having the third-best recruiting class in the nation, the Vols finished No. 36 in 2008. UT did not sign a single five-star recruit for the first time this decade.

that kind of says it all

That's one reason why I could give a rat's ass about where Rivals and Scout rank us. Those people tried to tell us Daniel Brooks was better than Patrick Willis, Slick Shelley was the next great WR at UT, Albert Toeaina was an exceptional LT, Chris Brown was just a 2 star TE, Anthony Parker was a 3 star guard, Steven Jones was the second coming of Tony Boselli and LaRon Harris was the next Albert Haynesworth.

Excuse me if I don't get too excited about what they have to say.

There are definitely as many busts as there are successes.

Fulmer admitted UT has set the bar high in the past two decades, but he isn't paying much attention to the rankings.
"We've had classes that were ranked high that really didn't pan out very well," he said. "It's how the guys come in and adjust, their character and their work ethic, along with the ability they have. One year we signed Jamal Lewis and Travis Henry and Dominique Stevenson and they were all five-star guys. Some ended up being good players and some ended up going to different positions."

those 5 star guys panned out pretty well....

You can name 3 guys that panned out and I can name 7 that did not. We could go all day Rex.

He is in damage control mode. Just like when he said "it hurts when we lose an in state kid that we want" Maybe thats the problem we don't want them but Bama , LSU etc do.

sure the star system is not a guarantee of success, trust me I stll have nightmares about Brian Darden (do you know who that is?), but give me a class of 10 five stars any day, it seems to have worked out pretty well for USC.
