| McDonald seems like a EW clone in a lot of aspects. I wouldn't rule out Georgetown for him. Great academics and a 2008 class that was very frontcourt oriented. Just a shot in the dark, but I have a feeling they may be the team to beat. I really like Jamil Wilson from Racine, Wisconsin but I don't what kind of shot we have with him. |

| Cotton, how would you describe Hopson's game? Is he a slasher, shooter, both? can you compare him to anyone? |

He is best in transition, our out on the wing with a clear-out so that he can go to the basket. He has a very nice, soft shooting touch for a guy his size and 3-point range, and he can also go down low and play with his back to the basket, defend and rebound. He has a light frame, so he's not going to muscle anybody out of the way, but he's smooth and lanky so he seems so slip by, or go over, oponents. He leaps well, plays above the rim, and has good timing for rebounding and blocking shots.
If I had to find a comparison, I'd say he's a little Scotty Pippen and a little Kevin Garnett, at least on the highschool level. |

| Just a quick update:
Hopson had 27 Saturday night in an upset loss to cross-town rival Hopkinsville in the city Christmas tournament. It dropped the Blazers to 8-2 on the year. |

| The paper didn't mention it, and with Holiday commitments, I couldn't attend. I'll see if I can find out whether or not he was there. |

UHA beins play in the highly regarded King of the Bluegrass tournament today in Louisville. King of the Bluegrass starts today |

| I watched him at the King of the Bluegrass today. I saw why people seem to think he's lazy or disinterested. He often looks like he is just standing around, but the reality of it is that he was so athletically superior that he could guard his man and kinda play a 1-man zone whenever possible to position himself to help. That brand of D looks lazy to the eye of someone who's never played D like that (I just play in pickup games - and not with that athleticism).
He does look like he is bored and disinterested - but, his game play is fine. He just has a quiet style. He has very quick hands - numerous key deflections / steals down the stretch. He looks ready to explode whenever he gets the ball - spent much of the night passing out of double teams and finished with 18 points - they won 65-63. The one thing he doesn't appear to be is a vocal on-court leader - stays very quiet. But, he did make enough plays to lead his team in victory. I think he would definitely fit into Pearl's system. I didn't recognize any college coaches in the stands. |

I had a similar take on him after watching him play last year and during the summer. As I posted earlier in this thread, though, in the one game I have seen him play live this year, he was much more intense, particularly with the game on the line. |
