The defensive tackle from Lutcher (La.) High School, who was one core course short of qualifying at UT, initially took classes at City College of San Francisco.
However, Melancon left CCSF in time to enroll at Louisiana Tech by its Sept. 10 deadline for the fall quarter.

| wow, and he can't even play for them this year. it says he will be eligible next fall. if he would just wait a year extra, he could come to UT. |

| | VN GURU | I just said why he isn't coming to UT. He is from LA and he wanted to be close to his family because of family issues. He was no scrub. Alabama fans were almost banking on getting him out of JUCO. His speed at DT was comparable to what we see with Ben Martin at DE. Dominant speed off of the ball. |

Tech" is just another example of the ridiculous lengths posters go to in order to bring everyone's attention to the demise of the UT football program. Pathetic. He did not choose La. Tech over UT. He chose UT. UT wouldnt let him in. He was forced to go JUCO. Family situation forced his hand and he found an opportunity thanks to more lax academic standards in a different conference. |

| | The Minister of Defense | kids can get to the league from any school, so here's hoping he performs very well down there and Rick, just understand that some people post things like this out of a general frustration over the state of our program. I, for one, can understand their motivation. |

It's called sarcasm, look it up in the dictionary. And, yes, he chose La Tech over UT. He has to wait a year to play at La Tech. Get off of your high horse and make sure you understand the content before you spout off with your expert opinion. Thanks. |

| | Senior Member | I appreciate the implication that I do not know the denotation of the word sarcasm. Although it would seem to me that the problem came in your improper delivery of the sarcasm. Was there a flashing sign somewhere that I missed that read "Sarcasm Ahead" or am I suppose to read all of your posts with the assumption they are sarcastic?
And, again, he chose UT! He did not meet our academic requirements and thus UT did not choose him. If he was asked if he would rather play at UT or La. Tech his answer would be obvious. |

| | Senior Member | Not to mention, you claim it was sarcasm but then then again back up the point that he did choose La. Tech over UT. Well, which is it? |
