Obviously, there is going to be some attrition, as there always is with coaching searches. But just so we can assess needs and holes in the roster, here is who we SHOULD have coming back next year. (It also doesn't account for who redshirted)

QB:
Quinten Dormady - Senior
Jarrett Guarantano - Redshirt Sophomore
Will McBride - Sophomore

RB:
John Kelly - Senior
Carlin Fils-Aime - Junior
Ty Chandler - Sophomore
Tim Jordan - Sophomore
Trey Coleman - Sophomore

WR:
D.J. Henderson - Redshirt Senior
Marquez Callaway - Junior
Josh Palmer - Sophomore
Brandon Johnson - Junior
Latrell Williams - Redshirt Sophomore
Tyler Byrd - Junior
Jordan Murphy - Sophomore
Princeton Fant - Sophomore
Jacquez Jones - Sophomore

OL:
Drew Richmond - Redshirt Junior
Riley Locklear - Sophomore
Nathan Niehaus - Redshirt Sophomore
Marcus Tatum - Junior
Ryan Johnson - Redshirt Sophomore
Trey Smith - Sophomore
K'Rojhn Calbert - Sophomore
Chance Hall - Senior
Devante Brooks - Redshirt Sophomore

TE:
Eli Wolf - Redshirt Junior
Austin Pope - Redshirt Sophomore
LaTrell Bumphus - Sophomore
James Brown - Redshirt Freshman

DL:
Jonathan Kongbo - Redshirt Senior
Shy Tuttle - Senior
Kyle Phillips - Senior
Deandre Johnson - Sophomore
Darrell Taylor - Redshirt Junior
Eric Crosby - Sophomore
Ryan Thaxton - Sophomore
Ja'Quain Blakeley - Redshirt Sophomore
Quay Picou - Senior
Matthew Butler - Sophomore
Kivon Bennett - Sophomore
Paul Bain - Immortal
Alexis Johnson - Redshirt Senior
Kahlil McKenzie - Senior

LB:
Quart'e Sapp - Redshirt Junior
Dillon Bates - Redshirt Senior
Shanon Reid - Sophomore
Will Ignont - Sophomore
Darrin Kirkland - Redshirt Junior (I'm assuming he's redshirting after this year)
Daniel Bituli - Junior
Solon Page - Sophomore
Austin Smith - Redshirt Junior

DB:
Marquill Osborne - Junior
Maleik Gray - Sophomore
Rashaan Gaulden - Redshirt Senior
Shawn Shamburger - Sophomore
Nigel Warrior - Junior
Micah Abernathy - Senior
Todd Kelly Jr. - Redshirt Senior
Theo Jackson - Sophomore
Baylen Buchanan - Junior
Cheyenne Labruzza - Sophomore
Terrell Bailey - Redshirt Freshman

ST:
K: Cimaglia
P: newcomer Paxton Brooks will probably be the guy.

Losing a lot on defense:
KMac
Alexis Johnson
Tuttle
Bates
Philips
TKJr.
Gaulden
Abernathy
Kongbo
Picou

Very little on offense:
D.J. Henderson (didn't even know he played here)
Dormady
Kelly
Chance Hall

So, if I'm Jeremy Pruitt, I know we need talent everywhere, but looking at this year's coming roster....

I want experienced OL who aren't projects (hence all of the JUCO's)

And I need stud defensive players. Because if I'm counting right, that's 10 seniors next year on defense, and almost all of them are starters.

Anyways, there's the roster breakdown pre-attrition.

GBO!

I didn’t realize we were losing so much on D after net year. SEC is a tough conference to have to rebuild a defense. Hopefully people will be somewhat patient

so you think Kelly and Dormady will or won't be back?

I think Kelly and Dormady ultimately will be back.

Kelly MIGHT go to the NFL, but I think he's just getting a feel for what things may be like around Knoxville before he does.

Dormady just got engaged to a girl from here, whose family is from here. He ain't going anywhere. Let's be real.

Just in case you want to edit, you're currently missing:

TE - James Brown (will be RS Freshman)
LB - Austin Smith (will be RS Junior)
CB - Terrell Bailey (will be RS Freshman)

The saddest part is that those guys were all INSANELY talented when they signed with us. Kmac was a 5*, Kongbo, Bates, Tuttle, Johnson, all 4* players....

Just hasn't been the development there to help them showcase it. That's been the saddest thing. On paper we have a studly SEC defense. Just haven't seen it yet.

I have a feeling that will change, but we need some serious ballers on the defensive side of things in the next 2 classes.

I'm counting 63 scholarship non-specialist returning

Are any specialist on scholarship?

May need a little attrition to sign a full class

Agree, on paper we look really good. But then when we put the pads on, it quickly becomes a l”ooks like Tarzan, plays like Jane” situation.

Just another quick tidbit, heard Jesse Simonton say today that when Pruitt had his introduction with the team before his initial presser, he was asking people “where are the big guys?”....as in, there aren’t any or nearly enough. Hence, why we’re seeing the huge JUCO OL push

?? Really good?
Oline is a disaster considering Hall may not be back.

As I said, “on paper” with the affiliated star ratings, the team looks far different, far better than when it actually plays.

Agree 100% that the OL is a bloody mess, been saying so for awhile now. I don’t expect Hall back, Jones is done, Richmond and Johnson not very good, Tatum, Brooks, Calbert and Niehaus all Sgt Carter projects. Only Smith is a bona fide top flight SEC Olineman capable of playing at an SEC Championship level imo.

Did DB DJ Henderson move to WR? I thought Princeton Fant was moving to TE since he bulked up so much?
