DEFENSIVE BACK MVP

Elam’s comes from a family known for producing elite defensive backs so it’s not much of a surprise that he came into Sunday’s event expecting to impress. Not only did he back up his Rivals250 ranking, he had no problem going toe-to-toe with some of the best competition in attendance. Schools like Auburn, Florida and Georgia have already offered and Notre Dame figures to be a major player in his recruitment as well.

Not according the Doug Mathews....said several times Jones was one of the primary reasons if not THE reason Mays de-committed. Recall that Mays decommitted on November 7, a full week before Sgt Carter was fired.

Yep. Mays decommited because we sucked. He said he wanted to compete for championships.

Everyone knew butch wasn’t coming back in September/October timeline. They stopped official recruiting visits in October. Lost to fl, usc, bama etc... All signs that he would was gone. Mays decommitment had A LOT (not all) to do with butch being fired.

Mays himself said (tweeted I believe) that he was disgusted with how people were treating Butch.

Why wouldn't he let Pruitt or Fulmer in house if his only problem was Butch? It wasn't, his problem was with the fan base and likely some of the admin.

New names to consider?

It'll be a tough pull but one name who hasn't been mentioned very much at all is Kaiir Elam. Tennessee visited the Top 150 Florida DB every week in December. While it's considered a UF/UGA battle (he's related to Matt Elam, who played for the Gators), Elam could very well visit Tennessee before a decision.
