We have not had a lot of players from Maryland

We have not had a lot of players from Maryland

Take 35 miles from D.C. to Baltimore and you have the most densely populated elite talent in the country. Unfortunately HS players are all paid and the best go to the cash, Michigan is now pouring in the most, but FSU, Bama, Fla, Clemson and Ohio State all have a significant year round presence in the area. We've gotten a few kids who had trouble like Payne and Harris, but you take any area in the country and I'll give you a DMV team that's better. The area is just loaded.

These are just 2015/16/17 - all within 30 minutes of one another, didn't go into Virginia. Just recruit this area and we have the best DL in football by a good bit.

We just got Ryan Thaxton from Alexandria, VA in the '17 cycle. He's another DE that had a good offer list.

We just got Ryan Thaxton from Alexandria, VA in the '17 cycle. He's another DE that had a good offer list.

Interesting kid, he could have gone to Yale. He will not be out worked by anyone in the league, UVA wanted him badly and compared him to former byu DL Ziggy Ansah. He's not particularly quick off the ball, but he is a very good athlete and tough as can be, he will be a favorite of coach strip and hoke. At 6-4 they'll be able to mold him into a dt if they want, he's physical (played some OT in HS actually) and already carries 245. Rock + Strip + Hoke + Thaxtons determination to be great will be interesting to watch. He's the opposite of the Harris/Payne kids we got from the other side of the Potomac, he's all structure and ready to handle college immediately.
