This kid is just starting to really get noticed, his offer sheet will look a lot better in a couple of months.

Sleeper that appears to be rising fast on boards. Offer list now includes Nebraska, Arkansas and Miss State. Notably, Nebraska offer came very quickly after Scott Frost went there. He or someone on his staff had their eye on him from USF already.

Former Vol Aaron Hayden tweeted his support with the Arkansas offer, where Hayden's son plays. Hayden coaches in the Memphis area where Winkel plays (Christian Brothers).

Height should read "Easily 6'6". Grew up in Knoxville. He played his Freshman and Sophomore years at Bearden High. Mother is a UT grad. I'm not sure of the status of the UT offer listed with Pruitt's staff. Would have zero issues getting academically admitted.

If you are looking for a quick footed, big framed tackle with Knoxville roots, now that Cade Mays is gone, you could do a lot, lot worse than this kid.

Interesting

There are a lot of late offers going out to lower rated guys. Wonder if that means anything or if they are just covering their bases?

I could see this finish being a complete grand slam home run or kind of a dud. Don’t know where it will end but it is quite a ride.

three-star senior offensive lineman ryan winkel of christian brothers high school in memphis, tenn., posted friday afternoon on his twitter account that he received a scholarship offer from tennessee.

"blessed to have received an offer from the university of tennessee! #rockytop," he tweeted.

The 6-foot-6, 280-pound winkel was born and raised in knoxville and played at knoxville's bearden high school before moving to memphis less than two years ago. He has received scholarship offers from at least 25 schools, including mississippi state, arkansas, northwestern, memphis, nebraska, central florida and virginia.

Winkel is scheduled to take official visits to mississippi state this weekend and arkansas next weekend, and northwestern hosted him on an official visit last month.

Winkel is lower rated but recently started receiving some P5 offers, he is a big kid and it has been stated also that he is teammates with Norton. This could be a deal where we get a solid lineman to pickup one of the top kids in the state next year. He has recently gotten offers from Miss St, Arkansas, Northwestern, and Virginia.

Measuring in at 6-foot-6, 290 pounds, Winkel has the build of an FBS lineman. He is a very raw prospect, though. His technique needs plenty of work; his feet are sometimes slow and his pad level is too high. He is, however, a very natural blocker. He has that “killer instinct” that can’t be coached, routinely blocking through the echo of the whistle. He is a strong player, and he is a physical presence on the line of scrimmage. He also has an above average football IQ.

Sounds like Calbert.
Kid is absolutely huge. Nor sure we need another project.

Speaking of Calbert, one of the 247 writers said they are curious to see if he can stay healthy. They had not seen a kid that massive with that kind of mobility, was either Rucker or Brown.
