Evaluation

Murphy is a 6-foot, 175 pound athlete out of West Point (Miss.). Murphy is a leader on the football field and he plays under control. He has played a lot of quarterback in high school, but that will not be his position on the next level. He could project as a wide receiver, but Scout leans more towards free safety as his future position. His has a good frame for the position, his play at quarterback will only help there and he has good football instincts. He does not have elite speed, but he flashes a good burst and he accelerates well. He does not show much wiggle, and there is a little tightness, but he has good length, he is a strong athlete and he is a smart player.

Strengths

  • Anticipation
  • Body Control
  • Competitiveness

That's odd. I thought all West Point (MS) grads were required to go to MSU. It's great to see Coach G finding these Mississippi boys. Could be a rich place to mine in central and south Mississippi.

Looks like a player.

I respect Coach Gillespie's eye for talent when it comes to RBs. He knows what's he's doing there.
