Rivals Ranking??

I'm guessing his has probably been mentioned in another thread - but does anybody have any ideas as to why we're at #29 on Rivals while 247 has us at #5 ?? I've been refreshing the Rivals site regularly expecting to see some sort of jump.. Surely something's messed up with the calculation ?

Rivals doesn't usually update their ranking in real time like other sites. It might be a few days. Just another reason why they are slipping.

ESPN isn't updated either. 247Sports updates are way quicker than other sites.

I think it's because it's just calculated star rankings. It's nothing more than a computer.

Could be that it's not updated - although it's been showing 17 commits, which is current/updated.. I just assumed their points/ranking system is automatically updated when a commit gets added - but maybe that's not the case.

Guess we'll just have to see how it shakes out...

Yeah, it's about the most reliable now. Fans will cherry pick the ranking off which ever site ranks him higher, but 247 IMO is the standard now.

The answer is no, Rivals has not updated their rankings yet. Best as I can figure, we have 1337 points, which
would put us about #6, for as long as it lasts.

Rivals changed their formula a few years ago, they only count your top 20 recruits by Rivals Rating. Past that they
assign points value for each level, i.e Maleik Gray is a 5.9 so we get 120 points for that, plus he's #104 in their Top250
so we get an additional 32 points for that. Go down the list and we get 45 points for Chase Rogers.

Total them all up and you get our Total Points. BTW, Gray is our only Top250 commit. Once the class fills out the lower
rated players will drop out of the calculation.

I dont have a link, I copied all this stuff over when they changed the formula.

Good insight thx... As I said above, my main confusion was that rivals does have 17 commitments listed for us - so I had just assumed everything else (points system etc) had been updated as well.. There must be some sort of manual update required to get the points/rankings current

Until some shows me differently, I'm a fan of the Bob rating. At least as good as camp directors and journalists. "Good enough to help us win" is good enough to take.

I agree. IMO Rivals use to be the best, but they have dropped the ball the last couple of years.
