State of recruiting (split)

Getting our tail kicked so far in recruiting.

It's been mostly disappointing up to now, but there's a long way to go. It would be nice to land a couple of these higher rated recruits that our rivals have no problem getting this time of year.

Y'all can act like recruiting isn't a concern right now, but we can't sell playing time and we can't sell on the field success. A number of top prospects are committing early, and not to us. Tennessee boys are seeing other Tennessee boys interested in other out of state schools, and that raises their interest in out of state schools. Even if we win this year, it'll be late in the recruiting cycle by the time they see we are for real, and difficult to flip. That would help the '18 class more. So, you're welcome to keep pretending it isn't a concern right now, but it absolutely is.

Nailed it.

Now queue up the sunshine pumpers for the "long way until signing day" comments.

While I agree with the concern about instate recruits. Stevens not going to Tennessee or considering us isn't a surprise since he never really was coming here anyway.

NONE of the top instate kids have committed ANYWHERE. In recruiting kids always have favorites and most of the times things change. Just look out our very own classes the last couple of years. The commit list will change as well as what schools these kids sign with.

Look at the class Texas pulled last year. It's possible to pull a top class as late as signing day. Until then, anything is possible. We're a LONG way away from being in trouble.

It is entirely plausible to maybe get a top 10 class. As it stands, based off where recruits have us ranked in their top groups, we're looking at top 20

I'm concerned. I worry that my spot in the give- up line will get snapped up before Memorial Day.

I ain't concerned about recruiting this early in the year. Kids change their minds all the time and a commitment doesn't mean crap anymore. Some of ya'll who's acting like it's the end of the world just because our recruiting is starting out slow, makes you look very foolish. Quit whining & crying and start looking forward to a great 2016 season.

Not foolish at all actually. We have no momentum with any top kids atp.

James Franklin started attending the church that Hurd attended. He stopped going when Hurd committed to UT.
