| Cory Hall This item in the paper this morning on questionable qualifier Cory Hall... Quote: Brainerd defensive lineman Cory Hall intends to sign a letter of intent with the University of Tennessee on Wednesday. "I’ve got the papers in now," Hall said.
A 6-foot-5, 250-pound standout with a whopping 22 sacks last season, Hall said he chose the Volunteers over Marshall after a Thursday night home visit from UT coach Phillip Fulmer.
The decision ended a backand-forth period where grade concerns could have pulled him from Tennessee, the school long considered his favor ite. Had Hall selected Marshall he likely could have enrolled immediately no matter his aca demic status.
Hall wouldn’t be able to attend UT next fall if he does not qualify, according to South eastern Conference rules. If that occurs, Hall said he will go to Hargrave Military Academy in Virginia, hoping to enroll at UT in the future. He wouldn’t count toward an already packed UT signing class in such a scenario.
"I reassessed everything, Hall said. "I feel good (about the academics), but even if not I don’t feel like prep school is a bad thing. I can be in prep school playing a whole season and that’s not going to hurt me at all. I like to look at the positive of things." Rivals.com rates Hall as a two-star prospect on its five-star scale, but much of that is tied to academics. Coaches, both in high school and college, have raved about Hall’s ability on the foot ball field.
He said he spoke recently with McCallie quarterback B.J. Coleman and Baylor fullback Kevin Cooper, two other Chattanooga locals to plan to officially join the Vols on Wednesday’s National Signing Day.
"It feels like a good fit for me," Hall said. "For what I want to do, it’s the best deal for me. You can’t get bigger than Tennessee football."

| He has better size than Jason Hall and if he has anywhere near the the "want to" he'll definately be a keeper. |

| Size, speed and athleticism are not issues. The kid has great physical potential. Lets see if he has the proper attitude and drive. |

| Personally, I think Hall has tremendous potential. Even the article states that if his academics were better he would be higher ranked. I would probably guess that he would be a 4* if he were in good academic standing. He would be a great addition to our class. It is always good to have a few guys as sleepers and I think Hall could be a good sleeper. |

| If star ranking have to do with talent and academics, then why is Noel Devine a 5 star? He is going prep, too. |

If you're going to tie academics into it, then do it with everyone!
It doesn't seem they've cared much about academics to this point imo, but I've only been following recruiting for 4-5 years now. I think it should just be on physical aspects purely; I don't care if they don't get into school or not, that is what the post enrollment rankings are for..

Brainerd never goes too far in 4A, so if he played 13 games, AT THE MOST, thats like 15 tackles game and nearly 3 sacks a game. Not very likely. I think he would have been better than 2 star by rivals. |
