Pretty sure he's a signing day guy. We have a good shot at him, especially with Meachem gone. Academics may be problem with him, but no word has be released on how good or bad the grades are.

Compared to paige, I like him better.

We have several 6-2, 4.4 guys. A big guy could bring us some diversity to the WRs. (unless paige has exceptional hands or things like this)

Jones Makes UNC Visit

By Phil Kornblut
WR Dwight Jones (6-3 210) of Burlington, NC made his official visit to North Carolina over the weekend. "It went well," he said. "I was getting to know coach (Butch) Davis a little bit better. He was very excited and wants me to come down. It's even more confusing now. Carolina has always been on top, but it's a soft commitment right now. Clemson and Tennessee are even behind them. I'll announce on Signing Day." Tennessee coach Phillip Fulmer will visit Jones Thursday and Davis will be in Friday. Jones said he was not sure when Clemson coach Tommy Bowden will visit.

Really hard to get a read from this guy, but I'd say we are in very good shape with him.

Here's another article. I like this one.

Jones Still Soft after Visit

By Don Callahan
Inside Carolina
Posted Jan 28, 2007

With a North Carolina official visit now in his rear view mirror, little has changed in the status of Dwight Jones’ verbal commitment to the Tar Heels.

“I’m still committed to [North] Carolina for right now,” said Jones. “It’s up in the air, but for right now I’m still committed to them.
“I’m going to lay out my options and everything and just sit down and talk to my coaches and my parents. I’ll announce my decision on Signing Day.”
In addition to UNC, Jones, a 6-foot-3 205-pound wide receiver, is considering Tennessee and Clemson. He has officially visited all three aforementioned schools.
“[I’m looking for] the school I feel most comfortable with, have the best chance of winning, [and] the school where I see myself getting the most playing time,” said Jones.
North Carolina fits all of Jones’ criteria except when it comes to the depth chart.
“I know they have three good receivers already,” said Jones. “If I come in there, they say I’m going to be the fourth receiver. I’m not going to a school where I know I’m going to sit out when I know there’s other schools where I know I can play immediately.”
Originally, Jones had scheduled an official visit with Alabama, but those plans have since fallen through.
“I don’t think that I’m going to take [the Alabama official visit],” said Jones. “I haven’t talked to the coaches. I was supposed to take it February second. I’m probably not going to take it.”
Jones, who says this past weekend’s UNC official visit “went well,” was hosted by his former Burlington (N.C.) Cummings teammate Durrell Mapp.
“It was kind of weird, because we went to the same high school,” said Jones. “It was good, though. He showed me around campus and everything.
“I most just hung out with the players [during the visit] and had a good time.”
During his stay, Jones and his parents received an in-depth conversation with head coach Butch Davis. “I never really talked to him [in person] to get to know him before, so it was kind of good getting to talk to him in person,” said Jones. “It went well and everything. My parents liked him, too.” Jones originally verbally committed to North Carolina almost a year ago, but softened his pledge after the dismissal of John Bunting.

it sounds great for us. He gets nothing special there.

If coach Cut did tell him that he will take Meachem's slot, then I think he is a vol based on what he said

i thought he was 6'-5". But yeah, he basically said that he wants immediately playing time and if he's going to be the 4th WR at North Carolina (I dont see how he could be that low considering the talent he has and the talent UNC has at WR) then that definitely helps us out. I really dont know much about Clemsons depth chart at WR but they might have came into the recruiting picture a little too late. I would say that we have the edge though.

The websites list him differently but I'd listen to Rivals 6'5" since they are usually pretty solid on their measurements.

I think it's really a UNC/UT battle. Clemson is known for runnin' the ball and doesn't pass much.

The only way Clemson lands Jones is if they hire Marvin Sanders in the next week or so.

I think UT will land either Dwight Jones or Ahmad Paige. I'd prefer Jones, but Paige would be a good pickup as well.

Some think we will land both to go along with Creer and Moore. I think that is a bit much WRs but o well. I suppose that would make Moore and Maples DBs.

there is a new article on rivals.. i dont know the whole story but it mainly talks about how him and his parents enjoy UNC's new staff..
Please dont tell me that he thinks UNC's coaching staff is better than having TT as your WR coach and coach cut as your offensive Coordinator.
