He has 7 sacks in 6 games this year. Originally redshirted at Wyoming, before transferring to Juco. Ole Miss has an official set up with him soon. He seemed to be excited about the Tennessee offer. I really hope we can get this guy! He is just the type of defensive end we could use. Kid is super fast!

Great read of Kongbo. Talks about his roots (in Congo) and his quick rise in the football world. He is still very raw in the traditional sense, but could grow into an absolute monster.

When Jonathan Kongbo played football, the world noticed.

Though there was never more than a couple dozen parents and onlookers at any one of his games, word of his prowess spread quickly.

After his first game, 12 Canadian college programs called.

After his second, every college in the country had made their pitch.

After his third, Montana and Villanova got in on the act.

After his fourth, Vanderbilt checked in.

For a high school senior who had devoted most of his time to track and basketball, it was a confusing and unexpected twist.

For Buchan, it was only a matter of time.

"It might have been a surprise to him, because he had never played before, thinking he could get a scholarship after only five or six games," Buchan says. "But there really wasn't anyone on our staff that didn't think he could play somewhere."

Eventually, Buchan instructed Kongbo to begin sending his tape — however brief — to other programs besides the ones already courting him. One school he recommended was Wyoming, where fellow Canadian Nehemie Kankolongo currently played on scholarship.

"What's Wyoming? Is that a city?" Kongbo asked him.

From Congo to Canada to Wyoming. This kid has been on a journey. Bet he blows up like Prince Tega did last year.

Per Hubbs

While Tennessee continues to pursue high school defensive linemen, there certainly seems to be a greater emphasis on junior college defensive linemen. We've been saying in the War Room for several weeks that we expected more to come and that looks to be the case.

The Vols offered Arizona Western Community College defensive lineman Jonathan Kongbo earlier this week and the native African has started to pick up some major interest of late with his play. He had a five-sack performance several weeks ago and followed that up with a two-sack game just a few weeks later. Ole Miss and Auburn are involved with the defensive lineman as well.

But they do have 'corn in a jar'.. Foun this interesting..

Democratic Republic of the Congo..

"Home-made corn or cassava-based whiskey is known as lotoko in the DRC.

Lotoko is usually made from maize, but sometimes made from cassava, or plantain. Heads of corn are cut up and boiled into a mash which is then fermented and distilled using improvised stills made from cut-down oil drums. Because of the woody core of the cobs of corn, the alcohol produced contains high levels of methanol which is toxic.

Although it is officially banned, because of its high alcohol content (over 50%), its production is widespread in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Lotoko made from cassava or plantains doesn't carry the same methanol risk."

We need a kid like this. Pass rush has been a problem for us. I like that we're going after JUCOs. We're ready to win in 2016. We need instant impact guys next year not true freshmen that need a year to develop.
