| He might be right. They've got some talent and the man can coach, it only took 4 years at LSU and they were worse off than 'bama is now.
Meyer is competing in his second year. Didn't Tressel win one in his second season. It can happen, especially when you combine coaching ability with the kind of resources that 'bama can muster - and the ability to get more than 100% out of your talent.
I sure hope your friend is wrong though... |

| I'd fear Saban more at LSU than Bama due to the fact La has a better recruiting area at home plus right next to Texas recruiting base. |

| LSU has a monopoly on the whole state, Bama has to go head to head with Auburn |

| If they don't compete for a NC this year then their fans will be calling for Saban's head.

| Sure there are crazy Bama fans, just like Tennessee fans. I had one tell me UT was going to win a NC within 2 years once Cut came back.
Seriously, it COULD happen, but I COULD also win the lottery. In my opinion, Bama will need a lot of luck to win one even in the next four years.
It's hard enough to go undeafeted in the SEC and a one loss SEC team needs things to happen for them to get the nod. Look at all the things that had to fall into place for Florida to go this year and not to metion Auburn in '04.
I think Saban will make Bama a very good program, but things like a NC are highly optimistic. |

| Saban has got big time trouble with the national media. They are all calling him {1} liar, {2} weasle, {3}dishonorable job shoping coach and {4} etc. ESPN is especially coming down hard on Saban. This won't hurt him as much in Alabama, but will definitely hurt him out of state. |

I can't think of another state that is as talent-laden as louisiana where there is really only one good football program. Certainly louisiana isn't as talent rich as texas or florida, but there are no university of louisiana's or louisiana a&m's to compete with.
Auburn has made a pretty good name for itself recently, and so saban won't be able to keep all of the bama talent to himself. |
