Other than Notre Dame, the Corona (Calif.) Centennial four-star receiver said he will for sure take an official visit to Oregon and he's also considering Tennessee and Ohio State.
Speaking of fall visits, four-star wide receiver Javon McKinley has set up an official visit with Tennessee for the Georgia game weekend. He's someone that has talked about visiting for a while and having a visit finally set up is a good sign.
Realistically, it's a long shot, but McKinley has always talked about wanting to see Tennessee so the Vols still have a chance assuming he makes it in.
"it was nice," mckinley's mother estrilla said. "the game was definitely a big highlight. That was an intense game."
they rolled out the orange carpet if you want to keep the theme," mckinley said. They did all the bells and whistles and we went to coach joness house for lunch today. Toured the facilities and dorms and met with the academic advisers. Saw what they had and what theyre offering."
"javon hung out with recruits and players and had a good time," estrilla said. "that was a good visit. It was good to see what was out there outside the pac 12."
I'll have to defer to Steve (Wiltfong) on what he's heard from McKinley and his family, but the impression I've gotten from others close to his recruitment is that McKinley at least had some genuine interest in Tennessee going into the visit. That said, it was his first trip to UT, and geography obviously is working against the Vols, so I definitely wouldn't say they're the team to beat or anything like that.
McKinley is one of a number of receivers Tennessee probably would be happy to add. Again, though, he might be a tough pull for the Vols because of the geography. Tennessee still has a number of receivers on the board, too, so it's not as if he's the only WR who's a realistic option for the Vols. It will be interesting to see how all of that plays out, with UT probably looking to add only one more receiver in this class.
