3rd year in a row doing this...

This time next year, Butch Jones will be introducing the following players as Vol signees, a potential top 5 class:

Already committed -
Jaylond Woods, 3*
Jack Jones, 3*
Zach Stewart, 3*
Preston Williams, 4*
Andrew Butcher, 3*
Cecil Cherry, 4*
Dylan Jackson, 3*

Predicted Future Commits:
Drew Lock, QB, 4*
Zach Gentry, QB, 4*
Eric Swinney, RB, 4*
Jackson Harris, TE, 4*
Van Jefferson, WR, 4*
CJ Sanders, WR, 3*
Drew Richmond, OL, 4*
Jake Fruhmorgen, OL, 4*
Patrick Allen, OL, 4*
Kyle Phillips, DE, 4*
Shy Tuttle, DT, 5*
Khalil McKenzie, DT, 4*
Brant Mitchell, LB, 3*
Mark Fields, CB, 4*
Rico McGraw, CB, 4*
Jaason Lewis, ATH, 5*
Jauan Jennings, ATH, 4*

I think we flip McGraw on signing day. Tuttle and Allen announce on signing day. We just miss out on top DT Trent Thompson and WR George Campbell.

Is this top 5?

Granted, I don't follow recruiting all that much, so maybe somebody else could expound on how likely it is we get all those guys. However, according to your list, you've got 2 5-stars, 15 4-stars, and 7 3-stars.

Using 24/7's rankings, this is very similar to Ohio State's class this year, who had the same amount of 3 and 4 star prospects, but had only 1 5-star prospect. Ohio State's class this year was ranked 3rd in the nation by 24/7 sports, so yes, that would very likely be a top 5 class.

I see Chuma Edoga was not included. I'm not optimisitic about him either.

Looks like a realistic class for sure. Not sure about Drew Lock though. Mizzou legacy and it's been rumored by all mizzou fans he's mostly bound for them. Could be wrong seemed like he likes UT too. Never know though that's the good thing about recruiting. Just adding to the foundation!!!

nice list. I like stuff like this because you can go back and compare it. For me, it also puts some names on my radar to watch. I appreciate it. Go Vols. Oh, and you get a like :)

I counted 16 graduating seniors this upcoming season. So, I would think that 16 is the limit that we can sign for the 2015 class. However; we will have 2 or 3 current players that leave the program by transferring, etc.etc. It happens each season.

So that will put us at maybe 19. Then we will have Dews back next season, so that leaves us with 18 scholarships.

We already have 7 committments. So, we will have about 12 roster slots to give.

Not a big class. By the shear number of players we can sign, we likely won't be a top #10 class. If we have about 25 players to sign, then we might be able to get to a top #10 ranking.

There are also some who will transfer. Will one of the QBs transfer out? And what if Blair dominates? He could go pro if he holds up well against some SEC defenses.

Some players are getting recruited over, we might have a full class again.

Last years post:

So I did this last year and only got 3 correct (Reeves-Maybin, Sanders, and Carr).

Here's predictions for 2014 class. I think we pull some big names after our defense looks better coached and we have stability on staff.

Would this be a top-5 class?

Vic Wharton ATH TN
Marshon Lattimore ATH OH
Todd Kelly Jr DB TN
Deion Singleton DB FL
Edward Paris DB TX
Rashaan Gaulden DB TN
Isaiah McDaniel DB TN
Lorenzo Carter DE GA
Lorenzo Featherston DE NC
Kentavious Street DE NC
Kendall Baker DT GA
Derrick Nnadi DT VA
Xavier Forrest DT TN
Greg Miclisse LB GA
Petera Wilson LB TN
Dillon Bates LB FL
Kevin Mouhon LB GA
Vincent Jackson LB GA
Steven Moss OL VA
Corey Martinez OL FL
Kyle Trout OL OH
Andrew Shofner OL VA
Drew Barker QB KY
Jalen Hurd RB TN
Treyvon Paulk RB GA
Taiwan Deal RB MD
Domonique Booth WR IN
Neiko Creamer WR DE

I'm going with Carter and Hurd being signing day picks. I think we finish runner-up to players such as Demarre Kitt and Khairi Fort. Josh Malone ends up with Ohio State but we beat them out for Hurd and Lattimore.

Long way to go but this would be great. Predictions???

Remember last year when we were all so anxious to land Petera Wilson and then it seemed that he just fell apart in various camps. Anyway, just saw where Tulsa beat out Tiger High for him.

Yeah, and looking at the list I'm glad we didn't land some of these guys. Shofner and Forrest wouldn't be takes. Dooley type prospects???

I wondered where he ended up. Speaking of Tiger High, I never heard a peep out of them yesterday...MTSU either. Anyone know how they did? Top 100?? !

I'm looking forward to another legacy coming in & signing w/UT. 4* DT Kahlil McKenzie from out of California. He's suppose to be really high on UT & can't wait to have an OV. I understand he's also a beast at DT. He's the son of one of the twin McKenzie brothers whose dad is in the Oakland Raiders organization.

Depends on the Recruiting Service. Rivals uses only the top 20 Recruits when determining Rankings so a 19 man class with everyone being highly ranked could get a Top 10 Rank. ESPN uses them all so teams with large classes have a tendency to rank higher there. Not sure of 247.
