Beech junior Riley Lovingood has been receiving private lessons from Miles for the last three years.
Me and Adam do a lot of private lessons, but this is getting live snaps to holders and kickers who are at a really good level, Lovingood said. In eighth grade, I always wanted to play high-level D-1 (for an NCAA Division I program). I realized that I probably couldn't play a regular position at my size. I thought that (long-snapping) would be a good way.
Lovingood has made significant progress and is ranked nationally.
Riley can go as far with this as he wants to go, Miles who served as a volunteer coach at Station Camp for four seasons after graduating from Tennessee said. He came to me two years ago and did not have a clue. I pointed him in the right way.
Riley has that it. He gets it. It comes natural to him.
Lovingood handled the snapping responsibilities on field goals and PATs as the Buccaneers won the state title last season, and he expects to snap when Beech punts this year as well.
I was able to snap in the state title game (a 56-35 win over Columbia in the Class 5A state championship game last December), Lovingood who was also the Bucs' starting center during spring practice said. That was a good experience. Getting under those lights and on that stage was a great experience.
You work all year to make it become automatic, so that when you get to that level, it is automatic and just fun.
Lovingood has received interest from Tennessee, Auburn (Ala.) University, the University of Oregon and Carson-Newman College, among others.
