After racking up accolades and recognition this past spring and summer for his long-snapping abilities, Hendersonville specialist Riley Lovingood is now known as one of the top long-snappers in the country for the class of 2015.

The 6-foot-1, 235-pounder who doubles as an offensive lineman blocking for Jalen Hurd when it's not special teams was named co-MVP at Tennessee's specialists camp over the summer and said that was one of the many standout performances he had this summer.

"It was really cool, especially getting to meet coach Elder and all the coaches up there and then getting to work out with them. They said I'm their number one guy in 2015 and they really liked me it seemed like," Lovingood said. "They talked about come September when they can start talking to me that they were going to talk to me a lot and they want to get me down there for games and they really look forward to recruiting me."

"I grew up watching Tennessee and I think I went to every home game last year so it's pretty cool to be in this position," he said. "I went down to Auburn and that went really well. Coach (Scott) Fountain and (Rhett) Lashlee told me I had done everything I can to earn a scholarship and now it's on them to figure out the numbers," Lovingood said.

So this kid is a long snapper and he attended every single UT home game last year? Add that to the fact Carr will be gone after this year and our other LS on roster will be going into his Sr season when the class of '15 arrives, and I think it's good news for this kid. And us.

Getting a kick on Saturday night | The Tennessean | tennessean.com

Beech junior Riley Lovingood has been receiving private lessons from Miles for the last three years.

“Me and Adam do a lot of private lessons, but this is getting live snaps to holders and kickers who are at a really good level,” Lovingood said. “In eighth grade, I always wanted to play high-level D-1 (for an NCAA Division I program). I realized that I probably couldn't play a regular position at my size. I thought that (long-snapping) would be a good way.”

Lovingood has made significant progress and is ranked nationally.

“Riley can go as far with this as he wants to go,” Miles – who served as a volunteer coach at Station Camp for four seasons after graduating from Tennessee – said. “He came to me two years ago and did not have a clue. I pointed him in the right way.

“Riley has that it. He gets it. It comes natural to him.”

Lovingood handled the snapping responsibilities on field goals and PATs as the Buccaneers won the state title last season, and he expects to snap when Beech punts this year as well.

“I was able to snap in the state title game (a 56-35 win over Columbia in the Class 5A state championship game last December),” Lovingood – who was also the Bucs' starting center during spring practice – said. “That was a good experience. Getting under those lights and on that stage was a great experience.

“You work all year to make it become automatic, so that when you get to that level, it is automatic and just fun.”

Lovingood has received interest from Tennessee, Auburn (Ala.) University, the University of Oregon and Carson-Newman College, among others.

Numbers are too tight next year to give a scholarship to a long snapper.

That's what I was thinking. I don't think long snappers traditionally get schollys anyway. Having said all that, here's to hoping he end up in orange!

Last name is awesome and he plays a position that is undervalued by many IMO! Add on to that he is a TN boy and I think we got a winner!

What in the world is Jones doing? Panicking already in the '15 class. Kid does not weight near enough to play OL, if you ask me, the way I see it, JMO, in case you were wondering.

He doesn't have two whole years of high school left or anything. Probably just lose more weight and be a Kicker

El Oh El

For reference he's a long snapper. I'm sure you didn't read a word of this thread besides his measurables. Might wanna try reading next time

Lol. Might want to figure out sarcasm. I would think the string of IMO, etc would be a key indicator. Joke going back to some posters on here that always complain that 17 year old lineman we recruit are a waste of time because they read a listed weight online and think they that makes them a talent evaluation expert.
