The streak will not hit ten years. No F'n Way. :censored:

How can you say that? Next year will be 9 (if we lose in the swamp)

The next year is @ home with Driscoll as a senior.

I don't have a lot of hope for either of those 2 games as it stands right now

2019 will be rough too.
I think we are a handful in 2020 though

Say what you want, we should have won this year. We had them beat. The monkey is getting bigger every year, and they're getting better. I hate it. I want us to win, but call me a Nega all you want if. I don't think we'll be favored either year. But lets get back on topic. Any chance we can get Adams in and sway him? He seems to like everyone he visits

As long as you guys brought up "two years out", what about it? Last year we argued about whether UF or UT had the younger team, both of us knowing that we could expect better things this year. How many freshman are playing for UT this year?

For UF:

Humphries played virtually entire second half against Vandy.
Bullard started against Vandy.
Purifoy has been starting and started against Vandy even though we had two experienced CBs available.
Morrison and Fowler both played a great deal. Both may be starting next year.
Andrade saw considerable action and caught a pass.

Which of us should be ready two years out?

Is this a serious question, or simply gloating?

Kinda hard what kind of leader he is when he's never been behind isn't it?

Good pt. I guess I should have said his ability to lead from the get go and manage the game as he is coached is far better than bray. Better?:hi:

I just don't see the fascination with Gruden. Look, I am not saying he isn't a decent coach, I just don't see him as the second coming of Neyland like many on here believe.

1) The college and the NFL are two totally different games. Remember how Mote Kiffin was going to come in and dominate? Yeah, we see how that turned out.

2) Gruden was 57-55 at TB. Barley above .500. That includes his Super Bowl year.

3) Out of his 11 NFL seasons as a head coach, he went to the playoffs five times. In those five times, he won a Super Bowl, lost in a Conference championship, lost a Division playoff game, and two wild card games.

Dooley was the recruiting coordinator/tight end coach/running back coach/special teams coach for the second coming of Bryant/Neyland at LSU. The second coming of Bryant/Neyland thought enough of him to bring him along to his Miami staff. He left to become both the head coach and AD of an abimsal program. Turned the whole program around. Took over a job at UT that nobody wanted. The job and roster was way worse than anyone ever wants to admit. Despite those difficulties, he had us virtually tied at the half (before lack of depth and talent took over the second half) with Oregon (13-13), Bama (13-10), UF (7-3), USC (10-10), and was a substitution mistake away from beating LSU in Baton Rouge.

The next season, Dooley looses his four best players; Bray, Hunter, Jackson, Lathers.

Now to this season. We have been in position to win every game. We dominated UF for three quarters. No body has done that to UF this season. We had a chance to win UGA and MSU. Players simply didn't make the plays they needed to make despite being in position. Add insult to injury, most of these blown plays were by our NFL-caliber players. There is only so much a coaching staff can do. The crazy thing about this season thus far is the fact that we are only a few plays from being undefeated.

Through all of this, the coaching staff has been able to reel in great classes considering our record and instate talent level. Furthermore, we are suppose to have another great class coming in despite our 3-3 start (according to those in the know around here).

Be patient guys; we have a good coach in front of us. Don't let your frustrations of the last decade dupe you into an irrational, emotional knee-jerk reaction.

We'll just have to agree to disagree here, man.

I really like Patrick Brown, too. I think McShay's comments apply to CP more than the other 2. He is an incredible football player but a very average WR (right now, anyway); an NFL team couldn't trust him enough at this point to play him every snap.

Brown does a good job for sure just bringing the info needed. Hope he doesn't change that.

I can see your pt for sure. Not saying cp is first or second round but 3-5 money is there for him on pure playmaking ability and his physical attributes. Instinct like his is natural. What mcshay said about their overall development is correct in regard to not washing out so early because they weren't ready.

GBO!!!

I think CP makes equal money by the end of the 2016 season staying vs. going... and I think his 2016ish contract would be much better if he stays. Will he want to wait an extra year to be rich becomes the question.

i think itd be 8 and 9 depending on where Teague and Wilks fall

definites - Lathers, Bartholemew, Rivera, ZR, PWagg, Wilks, DThomas, Willie Bo

arguable - Teague, Wilks

but point remains the same - not as many as you would like

Lathers has been no show for every game outside of his 2-3 plays. His missed tackle at the end of the game last week is all effort. Now if he can'[t bring it this last year what is he going to do.

You couldn't be more wrong.

This is my concern as well. It was my impression that he walked into a Tampa Bay situation where an incredible defense was already in place, and then picked up the offense toward a super bowl win... they went on to make very little noise subsequently.

He joined an older team that was running out of time to win a Super Bowl. He won and the ownership got cheap.

Thanks, don't know that much about the situation. I justthink it's hard to tell what a coach will be like long term based on his first year with a new team (good or bad)

Ya, lets completely ignore the fact that he rebuilt the Raiders and lead them to an AFC championship game.

I agree. And he will make more coming after next yr instead of this one. But we don't know what the personal
priorities are of this kids. Only that hunter has a kid now. Its up to them to decide what's best. Come out now and get more than I can ever imagine and work hard to make my next contract better or stay around and try to up my first contract money but risk getting hurt (hunter - again) and not get any money.

Tough choices that's for sure. Which unfortunately can be a negative with these big time players. Double edge sword of sorts. You have the guys who have been told since HS they will get all this money off of talent alone so they have that in the back of their heads. Especially if they get hurt. So they may not give thier all so they don't get hurt. I think Poole played like this last yr. not to get hurt and ruin his chances at getting in the league somehow. Either draft or FA. The players that know from the get go that they will have to play balls to wall all 4 yrs to even get a look by the league are the ones that are the unsung heros.

I'm not bashing anyone inparticular just IMHO that's all...

GBO!!!

Nice article today on AJ.

Some quotes...

"Truthfully, I didn't know a lot about Tennessee when I was growing up. But, after UT offered me, I started looking around and seeing Power Ts everywhere," Johnson recalled. "That really opened my eyes and made me see what I had been missing." Ranked as a consensus four-star recruit and one of the nation's most promising prospects, Johnson had his pick of practically every prominent football program in the NCAA. And while he found inquiries from Clemson, Florida and Alabama appealing enough to take on-campus visits, Johnson's appreciation for Tennessee's early offer ultimately made his signing day decision easy.

"Every time that I step on the football field, I try to be the most reckless and physical player out there," said UT's 6-foot-2, 240-pound middle linebacker. "I just love hitting people. To me, there's no better feeling than picking up a running back and dumping him on his head."

"I can remember doing angle tackling drills at camp, and I hit a guy so hard that I broke his ribs," Johnson recalled. "That moment sort of took me by surprise. You never feel good about hurting a guy, but that's when I realized that my physicality was something special."

"Looking back, I'm glad that Tennessee chose me, and that I chose Tennessee. UT began recruiting me early on in the process and it turned out to be a perfect fit. If I could, I would pick the Vols all over again. I've made a lot of memories and had a lot of fun being a Volunteer. In the end, I'm just glad that the coaches hit me up."

IMO, it's hard to compare the two because of types of equations, so to speak, that they are being forced to solve. Whereas Bray is attempting to do Differential Equations, most of the time, McCarron is performing Algebra.

Because of their defense, offensive line & running game many of the other variables are eliminated.
