I could see R Ferguson. If he finishes strong in the Elite 11 and gets selected for the Army game. I know he was nominated not sure if he got the nod for Army yet. Plus he is already the preseason all state QB and with Lemay as his top WR I would expect him to put up big numbers. My guess is he will be a 4 star in the final rankings.

Some put way to much faith in the star system by the recruiting services.
Let our coaches do the evaluations.

The recruiting service have been wrong many times in rating HS kids.

Dooley spoke about this last night. He said the recruiting services had become so corrupt that the staff really just has to do their homework. Said they really have to trust their evaluation and dont get wrapped up in hype or star rankings a service trys to give a recruit.

It doesn't make them better, but it does draw more positive attention to the university.

No, I really think it is how the kid progresses in the program but the stars are pretty on paper and generally how we are judged on recruiting.

The main reason the star system matters is thats how the recruiting services rank recruiting classes. If we have a bunch of guys who are great under-the-radar 2&3-star prospects we will be ranked poorly and the media will say the VOL's are not going to be good in the future. Even though there are better recruiting services out there ESPN is the most publicized and they have us with the most 4-stars.

These guys are true 4-stars
-Jason Carr(needs to improve speed)
-Riley Ferguson(some knock his "upside")
-Corey Vereen(needs to improve speed)
-Paul Harris(a bit thin)
-Ben Bradley(shed bad weight and add muscle weight)
-Austin Sanders(Tennessee is his only offer)
-Camion Patrick(academics)

in parenthesis is the possible reason they were not ranked as 4-stars by all of the recruiting services

Uber successful people rely on themselves and their foundation and working harder to learn more to make the best possible decisions. The majority of people are sheep and incapable of doing what is necessary for them to become great, whether lacking the simple foundation or tools to excel or the want/desire to do so. Usually it is nothing more than out working everyone else that can pay the most dividends.
The problem now a days is one of these three or a cumulative of these three that describe the average American:
Inept
Lazy
Or just don't give a sh*t
The problem is it is usually a cumulative not just singular one of these reasons. Couple that with no common sense and less true intelligence and you get hot air with no substance.
These services are no different and equate to little more than schoolyard gossip. How many times have we heard that they haven't even evaluated a kid in person or on enough tape, yet, assign a 2 star ranking and feel that it is somehow justified because they are the talent evaluators and that is their profession. No different than Doctors--many are useless and deserve nothing because they aren't good at what they do and barely graduated med school, but, yet they are still a doctor and you should give way to what they say?
The best scenario for setting the mark was the true story of Lorenzo in "Lorenzo's oil".
If you haven't seen it you should. One father who had more to lose than anyone else involved- whether Doctors or specialists or whoever- it was his son- he was the only one who figured out how to help solve his son's disease and save his life---it wasn't the Doctor's or people who were viewed as the almighty and final word on the subject--it was a banker who had more to lose than anyone else and by shear desire to solve the problem he made it happen.
Like Saban said at the media days, it is what you are doing and how consistent you are at doing it that make for greatness. Flashes in the pan and flavors of the week come and go, but it is the steady and meticulous that stay constant and over time exhibit and establish reasons for the way they are viewed and talked about.
I'll trust the coaches, they have more to lose by picking a certain guy than any prognosticator or pundit who gets paid to spew his gossip--and by the way how many of these guys
A) actually played high level collegiate or professional sports of which they talk?
B)Have built up a resume that supports the rational they put forth and have consistent and trackable results?

That was way toooo long of a post. I kept only the part that applied to recruiting. This is why recruiting rankings are biased to different services and areas of the country. We have a better class than Vandy's but yet we are ranked behind them.

If they end up signing with Bama or LSU...I'd say yes.
