| Talk is cheap and so is twitter. Getting it done on the field is what counts.Dooley can silence his critics with a solid campaign this year. Franklin has to drum up excitement about his program. On a bad day at Neyland how many would you say attend 90,000?
That is probably a three game total for Vandy.
Barnes and Noble for a big unveil? Don't go, there will be Vandy football players selling magazine subscriptions and candy bars. |

He did so In the locker room with his team. Not in public. He did what any coach would do. He celebrated with the team after a win in overtime. Total shock , right? Try again , Otis.
He wasn't bull****ting when he reminded the team we always kick the **** out of Vandy. It wasn't his fault the video got out. If you want to see classless , watch the reaction of Saif Franklin when he leaves the field. He showed his ass more than CDD ever did that night. Y'all need to get off Franklin's nuts. |

| Excitement isn't a tweet Quote:

This is just something i think this staff should be doing, and something that could be fixed relatively easily and could help greatly benefit us. If you've noticed, our staff does little to connect with the UT fan base and get people outside the program EXCITED about the direction of our program. Us Vol fans are limited to mere Post-practice youtube videos during fall camp to get an idea of whats going on with our program or the occational newpaper article with an inside track.
I hate to compare Dooley and James Franklin, but I say this because he is a good example. You look at Derek Dooley's twitter, and he has 0 tweets. He does nothing to connect to our fanbase and thank them for our support and encourage them to keep supporting the team and tell the public about the POSITIVE DIRECTION of our program. James Franklin and their entire staff on the other hand has done an exceptional job at creating excitement about the direction of their program and much of that is due to the fact that they reach out to what few fans they have to encourage more support and to thank them.
And coming from a 19 year old kid at UT... High school recruits eat this stuff up, I can promise you. They love to see programs with a "buzz" around it... A program that is on the rise...Our program is back on the rise, but our staff does little to make the general public understand that. I think it's fair to say that we are failing to create a buzz for this upcoming season and for the program's future in general.
Sometimes Big Brother needs to swallow his pride and can learn something from Little Brother every once in awhile..
Now im not trying to make this a thread about Twitter. Twitter is just one of many ways coaches can reach out to the public. I'm using it becuase it is a great example of what im talking about and can be easily referenced. Kiffin had too much hot sauce, but right now we dont have any sauce.. What say you? | let CDD and staff coach, and alot of tweets are by grad ass. and so much star power? everyone knows most real good recruits aint going to candyland. can't wait for 8-31, then we can talk about football and not social media, and I like no sauce, you were talkin BBQ |

| I don't check Twitter, but I'm willing to bet that Nick Saban rarely posts anything... if ever. Thats where Dooley's roots are. He wants to be the next Saban, not the next James Franklin.
I understand where you're coming from, we could all use a little excitement. But don't expect Dooley to be anything like Franklin. Its just not who he is. Saban is his hero, and thats ok with me. |

| can you freaking imagine the backlash if DD was putting out tweets? He'd get lambasted on here for saying the staff is the best in the country and blowing a bunch of hot air.
That's a problem if it doesn't work out. Kids buy the hype, realize it's fake when the stuff hits the fan, and end up confused because it isn't what they were told. That's one reason why we are in trouble right now. Kids were lied to or were sold on something besides the basics and when things didn't go as planned, they bailed or acted out.
I'm all for getting fans excited somehow, but bs tweets with bs quotes isn't the answer for building a foundation. |

| Franklin needs hot sauce because that's all he's got.
We are Tennessee. Winning games will create all the excitement that we need. |

| Tweeting has zero positive impact on a football program. It's just another outlet for jackasses like franklin to say something stupid. |

| I think the point was that Dools could improve a little with reaching out to the fans. Not necessarily placating hyams or Adams, but connecting with us. He's following the saban method, but he may not understand how much diff it is here in tn UT football is serious to us, the only game in town for most of us. His closed policy may have been a measure to protect and insulate the team through an obviously trying period. He didn't face up to the media after the ky loss for a few weeks in the view of some people, but he was obviously focused on closing out a recruiting class. I think with time he'll be better with it. If you made one player available a week for interviews in the offseason that would be enough to spoon feed the fans appetites I believe. The problem is we haven't had anything good to talk about for some time. I expect that to change here shortly and we may hear a diff tune once we get some positive wind at our backs( finally) . Here's to hoping that black cloud has cleared. The man has been juggling numerous challenges the last two years. Combine the lack of good news with tweeting being far down his list of priorities(understandably) and I couldn't complain about this small shortcoming. But again with everyone skyping and whatnot these days I'm sure Dools will join the party sooner or later.
