| punters It looks as though the kicking game is still struggling with palardy and darr still churning out underwhelming performances. Most people are concentrating on palardy, but it seems darr is making little to no progress as well. My question for you recruitniks is this: what is our stance on punters for this class? Is this a case where we could use a spot to bring in a punter or would we try to get someone to walk on, or are they not worried about it this year at all? Just curious as to where you guys think we stand. |

| Heard yesterday that if Bullock can win the kickoff/fg duties from MP, MP will focus on punting and would likely win the job over Darr. |

| I would think they are atleast going to try to find a walk on or something. I just feel both palardy and darr get stage fright. They can't perform even in front of 30k at a meaningless scrimmage. |

| Get my girlfriend out there. Even she admitted that she could probably kick better than those guys. I honestly think they could find a student on campus that could punt just as well as Darr has. In all honesty though, regarding field goals, who knows what Bullock will do, but if I were Dooley, I would seriously seriously seriously...and seriously think about at least temporarily replacing Palardy's field goal duties with Brodus. I know he missed a relative give-me yesterday, but he still looked more solid. He kicked it just as far on kickoffs as well. Hopefully Bullock will be able to solve our field goal issue. Anyhow, I know the op's question was about punting, but figured I'd chime in on anything kicking related here. |

His miss looked good and was just to the left, Palardys miss was just about as far off and ugly as it gets. I'm all for Brodus getting the starting job.

You also have to figure that Brodus really only stands to get better the more he does this. Palardy, hell, he's been doing this now for much longer and still no improvement. I don't have anything against Palardy personally. Sometimes things just don't work out, but at some point you have to acknowledge the fact that this is essentially a business, and you have to make the most economical decisions. I know I spend enough money on UT football. I'd like to see that money going towards the best possible product on the field. We're all paying for public-founded academic scholarships and those get cut if a kid doesn't perform up to par in the classroom. What's the difference, quite frankly? I'm not advocating a coach being able to drop a kid's scholly if he simply isn't as good as advertised, but when it comes clear that he just isn't going to do the trick at all, and might actually cost you games, you should consider it and have the right to it. It's not fair to students who might qualify academically for a scholly and really need college but who don't end up getting an academic scholarship. Sorry, ranting. |

Sorry, ranting. | I literally get a sick feeling in my stomach when Palardy comes in to kick a FG. I dont care if its a 20 or 50 yarder. I cover my eyes like I'm playin peek-a-boo with the TV.

| If the field goal is more than 30 yards go for it, not trying to be funny. Very sad kicking game below high school level. |
