I just dont see any top recruits buying into what he's selling after losing to Kentucky today. Our football program has regressed from last year and is continuing to regress into next year. Im very worried about how this class will finish. Ive defended Dooley all I can, I cant and wont do it anymore.

We lost, so let's move on. This team was awful and painful to watch. Glad the season is over so that CDD can assess his staff and make changes as necessary and finalize recruiting. Everyone is disappointed but CDD is not going anywhere this year. Let's talk at the end of next year if we still have the same results. We already have 100+ threads just like this. GO VOLS!

I think it took a major hit. With Bray returning, we all expected to see some improvement. What we witnessed was a team that gave up on the staff, and just wrote it in.

That's a reflection of poor coaching.

I just want to still manage to finish this class as expected and with the way our football program is headed, I just dont see how its possible. Recruits want to come here to help us because we are "on the rise". Well, I dont see anything that suggests we're on the rise. I hope we can still land the top talent we're in on.

I understand your point OP, but does anyone think that Dooley sits in these kid's homes and tells them that UT is a good football team right now or does he explain what is going on and what to look for in the future and how they can/will help? I mean, I think you are selling a kid on what his role will be and what other pieces of the puzzle need to come together to contend for a championship. The wins come from practice and our staff's ability to assist in the development of their full potential. The development, mentatility, and over all intensity has me more concerned than worrying if they will come....

Yes. At least a top ten class, but more likely top five or six.

we haven't regressed. this is is where having three coaches in four years pays off. They buy into it because thankfully they see the program in a more positive way

The good news is that Dooley hasn't been selling these kids on coming in to play on a national championship contender in 2012. That's what Jimbo Fischer has been selling, and that's why the FSU class has had decommits when they've lost games.

Dooley, on the other hand, has been selling recruits on the opportunity to come in and play for a young, inexperienced team with a lot of holes, play early, be a part of the class that builds back up the program, and by their senior year, be on a championship caliber team.

And losing to Kentucky today doesn't change any of that.

Sigh... another inept post thinking a game that we lost is going to change the status of our commits. Jacobs is the only commit that has shown even an ounce of looking elsewhere. Luckily based on your logic, he is considering Florida.

Excellent points. I would also add that Dooley is showing parents that he will back up his talk about high character guys. He is able to convey this and I think if I'm a parent, I'm looking at that as much as the other stuff.

I don't think DD has sold himself to our juniors and seniors, regardless of what he does in recruiting the next two months, if he can't create chemistry, and sell his staff to our upperclassman, he won't be here for the next recruiting class.

Well he still has to sell rebuilding and the place sells itself. Wilcox is pretty good and most of the impact guys are on that side of the ball. We need to fix the other side, not sure what happens over there.
