| I think it is mostly precautionary. Don't think the injury is too significant or that he will miss too much time. |

Clever - I see what you did there...
However, hate to burst your bubble but an open dislocation is real and possible - especially in the finger and in contact sports. The injury Peterman experienced is very similar, if not the same, to the one Kyle Orton experienced in 2009 - "NFL sources said that while Kyle Orton’s injured finger was not fractured, the Broncos quarterback suffered an open dislocation (meaning it penetrated the skin) of the right knuckle."
(Source: Kyle Orton’s injured finger was open dislocation. - The Orange Mane - a Denver Broncos Fan Community via Denver Post)
Also, see enotes which sites various nursing and surgical encyclopedias saying, "Additionally, a dislocation may be open or closed. This refers to the skin overlying the joint, meaning that an open injury is one in which the joint surfaces are exposed to the environment outside the body. An open injury..."
I prefer not to use the term "hacked" in this case, my friend... but instead say, "You, have just been lawyered."
(...since everyone seems to enjoy proposing new names for people on this thread, I would like to propose a vote to change your name from "VolsDoc" to "VolsQuack"... "a dislocation with bone exposure and no fracture isn't possible" - child please!)

Therefore, unlikely to be open, as that would likely include too much trauma fo his throwing hand for such a speedy recovery.
Better? I never said is not possible by the way. Otherwise not too shabby a reply... |
