Final 11

We have 18 guys committed right now, and we can take up to 11 more, if we sign and place 3......Here's my Final 11.....

1. Maurice Couch - DT (juco)
2. Sylvester Williams - DT (juco)
3. Gabe Wright - DT
4. Mickey Johnson - DT
5. Jeffrey Pagan - DE
6. Jaiary Dunaway - LB
7. Edrick Loften - DB
8. Derek King - DB
9. Antonio Richardson - OL
10. Cameron Clear - OL
11. DeAnthony Arnett - WR

If we only take 2 or 3 DT's (instead of 4), then it opens up space for 1-2 playmakers, such as another RB, TE, or WR......anyone else??

1. Maurice Couch
2. Gabe Wright
3. Jeoffrey Pagan
4. De'Anthony Arnett
5. Cameron Clear
6. Antonio Richardson
7. Gionni Paul
8. Jairi Dunaway (sign & place)
9. Derek King

We actually have 19 commitments, Loften is considered a commitment. We have 7 spots left to fill & then we will greyshirt or sign & place 2-3 kids.

So do you think we will find out that one other guy will be ineligible or do you think someone will greyshirt.

Honestly, I have no idea. This is something I've been thinking about all day. But looking at our commitment list every single kid has excellent grades & a qualifying score, on top of that the kids we are going after have excellent grades & qualifying scores. The only ones that I know of that may not qualify are Dunaway & Johnson. If we truly choose to oversign we may have to greyshirt someone, but I have no idea who it would be.

A few questions for you, jmoore:

First, what is the technical name for what Loften has done (cause he isn't a transfer, he isn't a greyshirt, he didn't go to juco for a year, etc.)? Will he show up as a class of 2011 commitment on Scout/Rivals/etc?

Second, what is the advantage of sign & place? Sign & place uses up a year of their eligibility and we then count them toward the next year's class, right? So if we can't have them for next season, wouldn't we rather just take another 2012 guy (especially in a case where we might be able to get a better player next year anyway)?

Thanks

1. I dont think their is a particular name for what he has done, If I understand things correctly he will be a '11 commitment but will be backcounted to the '10 class. & he should show up as a part of this class.

2. There really is'nt a "advantage", if you think highly of a kid enough that you want him in your program but he doesnt have the grades then you send him to JUCO but you still have to continue to recruit him & hope he sticks because other schools have the chance to recruit him from you once he is in JUCO (most JUCO coaches send players back to the school that sent them to JUCO). Also the staff could send the kid to JUCO but just end up recruiting over them with a kid for the next seasons class.

Hope that answered your questions & made sense

Isn't Loften a late qualifier like Montori Hughes was?

He has to pass the qualifying test which he just took a couple weeks ago, but if he did, he will be here in January.

I really like this potential list in addition to the current commitments. 8 of 11 have great SIZE. The team will go from being very very undersized to fairly large including who is expected to contribute next year.

Ok, I like this list. However, what are the chances we land these guys? Percentage wise? Lets start it and see what everyone thinks:

1. Maurice Couch - DT (juco) _______%
2. Sylvester Williams - DT (juco) _________%
3. Gabe Wright - DT ________%
4. Mickey Johnson - DT ________%
5. Jeffrey Pagan - DE ________%
6. Jaiary Dunaway - LB _________%
7. Edrick Loften - DB ________%
8. Derek King - DB _________%
9. Antonio Richardson - OL ________%
10. Cameron Clear - OL _______%
11. DeAnthony Arnett - WR _______%

Alright all you recruiting insider guru ppl...fill in the blanks with realistic numbers!

1. Maurice Couch - DT (juco) 95 %
2. Sylvester Williams - DT (juco) 20 % (Things are looking good with Couch, Wright, and Johnson, so I don't think we end up offering him)
3. Gabe Wright - DT 70 %
4. Mickey Johnson - DT 45 %
5. Jeffrey Pagan - DE 55 %
6. Jaiary Dunaway - LB 40 % (If we don't get him, it's because we've chosen not to accept his commitment)
7. Edrick Loften - DB 85 % (If we don't get him, it's because he didn't get a qualifying score)
8. Derek King - DB 25 % (Same as Dunaway, although I think in King's case we might have already moved on)
9. Antonio Richardson - OL 80 %
10. Cameron Clear - OL 75 %
11. DeAnthony Arnett - WR 90 %

I'm certainly no "recruiting insider guru" but I'll play along. Listed again below in order of (my estimated) probability that they end up Vols:

Couch 95%
Arnett 90%
Loften 85%
Richardson 80%
Clear 75%
Wright 70%
Pagan 55%
Johnson 45%
Dunaway 40%
King 25%
Williams 20%
