'12 TN RB Jovon Robinson

Is he being recruited as a RB?

Looks like a future LB.

I'm not sure. Here's some thoughts on him from Rivals.

Rising junior Jovon Robinson is a powerful running back at 5-foot-11 and 220 pounds. As a sophomore, Robinson was the heart and soul of the Wooddale offense, rushing for just under 1,700 yards and 26 touchdowns while also adding two interceptions on defense and both an interception and fumble recovery returned for a touchdown. With a healthy junior season, Robinson should enjoy plenty of college interest.

Robinson won't be the first player you pick out of a lineup as far as his physical appearance but he is a football player. A running back for his high school, the sophomore made some plays out of the backfield this weekend, both catching the football and also showing shiftiness, change of direction and explosiveness in tight spaces. Where he separated himself though was his ability to step across the line and play cornerback at a high level. There were moments when he would take false steps in zone coverage but when you point him at a wide receiver and tell him to lock down his side, Robinson seems to thrive.

Wow, he would be a huge CB at 220. I figured he would be pretty good LB if he play D side of things.

He also picked up an offer earlier this month after attending the Ole Miss Passing Camp, Rebel Yell, and 3-Day Camps.

Louisville has offered too.

I've got him listed at 215.

'12 Nathan Cole, WR out of Memphis [Mitchell] was also offered at the AL camp. He also holds an offer from Ole Miss. You should check him out.

[Edit: LV didn't know you had started a separate thread on N. Cole]

Robinson was off this week.

In week 1 against Cam Clear's Memphis Central squad, Robinson ran for 177 yards and 3 TDs.

(7) Wooddale 33, Kirby 6: Junior running back Jovon Robinson rushed for 200 yards and scored four touchdowns to carry Wooddale (2-0, 1-0 in 15-AAA) to the road win. He also added an 82-yard kickoff return and tallied 290 all-purpose yards.

Considering: Already has received a lot of interest, including a verbal offer from Alabama.
Performance: Rushed for 177 yards and three touchdowns and set up the game-winning score with a 35-yard punt return in a 29-22 win over Memphis Central. Also fumbled three times, losing two.
Strengths: Robinson's feet and vision are elite. He makes sharp, reactionary cuts that display great instincts. If there is a hole to run through, Robinson can usually find it and when he gets to the second level he is even more dangerous because of his ability to make the first defender miss. Robinson is a physical back as well that is unfazed by the initial contact and can either bounce off the first hit or power through it.
Weaknesses: Robinson lacks elite speed. He can get to the outside but has trouble outrunning defensive backs for the homerun. Robinson also needs to focus on ball security. He had three fumbles and lost two of them in the game, almost negating a terrific night. - B.S.

Hate seeing AL offers on Tennessee guys with no UT offer.

Can't argue with this. IMO, hard to believe Bama has offered before UT. We are building depth at RB, but you can never have enough backs (I'm assuming UT will go for Kimbrow before Robinson, but who wouldn't want both?).
