| I Need Help With A UT Tattoo Idea Last yr I was in wreck, and badly broke my arm.
The scar from surgery I needed to fix it goes from shoulder to a little past my elbow.
I wanna get it covered with a tattoo, and a local tattoo shop is willing to do it for free since ive had a rough time.
At first I thought since I broke my humerous, and it wasnt funny id get a funny tattoo, and get the xray of the break as a tattoo.
Then I decided since Orange is my fav color id do a UT one.
Since it would be a full sleeve tattoo give me some ideas on what I should get |

| do something with fire and flames.the orange and black of the flames look great and you could mix anything affiliated with the vols in and it would set it off. Cant provide a PIC but i have a power T on the back of my arm right above the elbow. the T is done in a heavy black outline with very light shading inside the letter T. then flames start from the bottom of the T and wrap around and go throught the T. IT looks mean, alot better than i though it would.
Good luck man, send me a pic when you get you get it |

| with you getting a sleeve the fire and flames idea IMO is even better, my friend has both arms sleeved and the flames start at the wrist and wrap all the way around his arm up to the shoulder, it looks great. |

| you do know you are not supposed to tattoo over a major scar...the flesh is too tough and will not take the ink well.
I have many tats and have many friends that are tattoo artist and they have all told me never get a tattoo on a scar. |

| I totally agree with this post above from grimvol.. Scars should not be inked. My husband owns a shop and had a customer come in with an open heart surgery scar. He incorporated that into what looked like a creature ripping out of the scar/chest area. Maybe you should try to find something to go along those lines. Not tattooing directly over the scar but use the scar instead with the tattoo. Good Luck to ya :0) |

| | Like... with jetpacks? | I have to give respect to the tattoo parlor that offers to do a full sleeve for free, regardless of the severity of your personal circumstances.
I know I'd keep going back to that shop. |

| Is the scar keloidal?
If so, you definitely don't want to tattoo over it. Incredibly painful and quick to fade.
If it's not, I suggest going with a zipper 3/4 of the way zipped up. Remember, you gotta live with this thing the rest of your life.
Smokey or Flames probably won't be as cool at 55 as they are at 25. |

| Smokey will be cool when im 90,and im not 25 ill be 39 in May.
It is keloid, but im going to physical therapy for pain mangement, and the massages and stuff is making it go down
Im also gonna have my dermatolgist to give me shots of a steroid to make it go down.
I had a scar on throat and another on arm,and they were keloid bad like this, and after shots you can hardly see them |

| | Senior Member | Yeah, Not downing you at all and i'm really sorry for what you've been through...
My buddy owns a tattoo parlor here in Pensacola and while I was in school I would just go up their and hang out alot.. There are alot of risk when tattooing over a scar espcially the size of yours and some wouldn't do it.. There was a gentlemen who came in one day who had been attacked by a shark down here.. He wanted to get a tattoo of the ocean around his shoulder and down his tricep.. Alot of the guys in the shop, though they thought it was an awesome idea.. Had to turn him away due to the risk with getting it afterwards..
The risk being, the skin toughness plus if they ever had to go operate on the spot again and also the way the tattoo heals when dealing with scar tissue itself..
But again, I'm just a random poster on an internet board.. Gotta do what your heart wants..

If this tattoo is the prize at the end of a long rehab process, then I say get what makes you smile when you see it (I'm just hoping you'll be able to smile at it until you take your dirt nap ). |

| I believe I would go with the x-ray of the break, I would then have TN Vols tatted on the bone. Then you could always say, I am all Vol down to the bone. |
