| Good grief...take some Xanax Most of you folks are level headed, but the ones who aren't are the most paranoid group of folks I have ever seen. Its either paranoia, or a lack of history, that is driving folks crazy.
If its fear, paranoia, or anxiety causing people to think the sky is falling, I recommend Xanax. The generic is cheaper, and it is called Alprazolam. It cannot be bought OTC, so get a script. Start out at .25 mg/tid (three times a day). If that doesn't help, by all means increase your dosage...up to 2 mg/tid. However, don't blame me if you pass out at your desk.
For those with no sense of history, let me be the professor. One thread on this board actually asks the question as to whether any Vol championships from this day forward will be "tainted"...that we can never get the "stank" off our program. Off the top of my head...
Did you know that Bear Bryant was involved in a point-shaving investigation with the then UGA coach, Wally Butts? What about Bammer being called a "serial violator" by the NCAA for their conduct down through the years. What about them buying a player, Albert Means, for $300,000? Most recently, has the textbook scandal hurt them? Last time I checked their program was fine, even after surviving Mike DuBose, Dennis Franccione, and Mike Price. You can add Mike Shula to that list, too.
Oklahoma has a pretty fair program, don't ya think? Has the "stank" of Barry Switzer left that program yet? Switzer knew no bounds in recruiting...was banned from going to bowls, had scholarship cuts, etc. Do you think any coach recruiting against Stoops mentions the name of Barry Switzer in order to cast Oklahoma in a bad light? Of course not...the "stank" is long gone.
What about "the U"? Nowhere was cheating more the norm than the exception. The reason they are where they are now is because of Larry Coker, NOT losing players to coaches who negatively recruited against them due to cheating. Heck, after Dennis Erickson and Jimmy Johnson, their reputation was so bad that they hired Butch Davis with the mandate to clean up the program first, and win second. Butch did both at the same time, even with that "stink" surrounding the program.
Reggie Bush? Yes, he's in New Orleans now, but at USC the question was where did Reggie get his car, and who paid for the house Reggie's parents stayed in? When someone says "USC" today, you think of Pete Carroll and national championships...NOT that they have a scandalous program and once may have bought Reggie a car.
I promise, last one: Bobby Bowden. Free Shoes University was a serial cheater during its run in the decade of the 1990's. Some of those guys couldn't say the alphabet, but somehow stayed eligible. And, Spurrier was merciless. But that didn't cause their demise. The reason they are down now is NOT that they have a reputation as a cheater, its because Bobby Bowden stayed too long, and Jimbo Fisher doesn't cause many people to get excited.
I could go on and on and on. But no need. My point is that to think that because some young ladies went to a high school football game, we will never be seen as a "clean" progam again is absurd. Seriously...is what we have allegedly done even close to what I have described, above? Of course not.
If I had his ear, I would say "Lane, keep on pushing the envelope. If the NCAA isn't looking at you sideways, then you're playing it too close to the vest. If that bothers too many peiople, we can get them that Xanax I mentioned earlier." GBO

| I was giving you credit for spelling Xanax correct in the title, then spelled it like most others at bottom of the post. Maybe yours came on too quickly? And ummm.. I'm not down on the program or concerned one bit about it, but I wouldn't mind having a couple bout right now. |

And, no credit for spelling Alprazolam correctly?
