About this Page -- This is a discussion on Is Hardesty Ok?. within the forum Tennessee Vols Football. I wasn't able to watch or listen to the game last night, but I noticed that Hardesty only had 60 ...
If you listen to Kiffin's post game comments, he said they wanted to focus on the passing game because Memphis is ranked 105th against the run and there would be nothing to gain regarding needed improvement of our offense running against them.
That's fine - just checking...had a crazy busy day and saw the stats, which certainly begged the question. Figured everyone would be weeping and gnashing teeth on here if something had happened
haha we could have either let hardesty have 300 yards or JC, and we chose JC.. actually we could have let both have 300 if we left starters in the whole game hehe.
Why risk an injury with Hardesty against a team like Memphis. They did the smart thing and pulled him out after the game was easily in hand and he had gotten a few touches.
Honestly though, we didn't exactly runblock that well either.
Memphis completely sold out on stopping the run. They had 8 or 9 in the box every play except on 3rd and long. Hard to put a hat on a hat in that case. Even when JC was torching them downfield the Tigers stayed in their stop the run mindset.

Kiffen said on his show this morning that he figured Memphis had spent the last two weeks working on defending the run so he went with the pass. Looks like it worked, lol
