Tommy Tubbs all the way. He wasn't scared to hire assistants that had HC potential. I think Tuberville could have been very succesful at a school like UT and I think BAMA would have made a serious run at him if they hadn't already gotten Saban.

I actually agree with Rex that Fulmer recruited better. We lost a lot of major recruits in the last decade to major injuries and off-field incidents.

I think Tuberville's staff did a better job of coaching up their players and instilling discipline.

Yeah, and Fulmer milked that cow for all it was worth (remember the "equity" speech?).

If you'd hire today based on what someone did ten years ago...well, then Bernie Madoff is waiting to handle your 401(k).

Go Vols.

Hope you're not too bitter when Fulmer is not a factor in the next round of FBS hirings...

I think it's a bit naive to think that. He will have some D-I school calling.

They might call... that's about as far as it may go.

Not really a vote for Phil, but why is Tubbs the obvious choice? Just because he is not Phil? Would the answer be different if we fired Tubbs, and Aubbie fired Phil? TT was a good coach, but did he rise to power for the same reason that Phil did? (The fall of the Tide for a decade)

No sure this is that cut and dry so to speak.

Recently TT beat the powerhouses more often than PF.

Im looking at it as a whole. And you are correct in that statement, as to recent records. That would also drop Pete Carroll, as of late he has struggled getting back to the NC game.

We have differing opinions. The only FBS (D-I) calls he would get would be from "bottom third" schools, and his ego would probably get in his way.

Fulmer may well coach again, but he will never be a factor again.

Go Vols.

I think that if Phil worked as hard in the past five years as he did in the 90's then we wouldn't be having this conversation.

TT was a great coach, and he recruited some studs to come to that podunk town in Alabama.
