It was more likely a situation where there was already bad blood. I believe it was the same AD who was negotiating with Petrino while Tubs was still on the payroll. He was probably happy to take the millions, and Bama and LSU's success probably helped too.

haha...JK.

I'd take Fulmer. I think Tubs is a better all around coach, but i've always thought of him as a cheat....not sure why
I have never gotten that impression.

Not the story I heard, and which seems more reasonable.

Keep in mind the plane ride to Louisville a few years back when Auburn officials were interviewing Petrino behind his back. When that blew up in Auburn's face, Tubby had his contract renegotiated so that if another such incident occured, the contract was breached, and he could back out of because of their violating it.

Now fast forward to this past season, and apparently, Auburn had been interviewing Houston Nutt behind the scenes. Nutt I believe shares the same agent as Tuberville (Sexton I believe) and told Tuberville. Once Tubby found out, he "resigned". Meanwhile, Auburn still paid him his buyout, which seemed odd at the time. But Auburn officials tried to spin into something honorable and paying him for years of service or some other nonsense. But the truth is, Auburn knew they were caught with their hands in the cookie jar and had to pay up.

Just to stir stuff up, I'll say Tommy Bowden.

Just because there's not enough Bowdens out there coaching.

I didn't read this thread, but to answer the question I would say "just pull the trigger".
