| I wish CPF nothing but the best, the UVA suggestion is interesting.
Having been a VOL fan for decades, including his playing days at UT, (and I can hear the boos rattling various walls in dorm rooms and offices from this post) I still believe CPF loved the university, football, and the state of Tennessee just as much, and probably more, than the vast majority of the fan base.
With that said, it is a new day, can we leave CPF alone?

Good post.
I posted the article just because I thought it was interesting and it continues ot irk me how the man won't just say that his time had run at UT and time to move on, but I can see its still a bit of an open wound for some.

(Memphis would probably be a no b/c most of the West TN area around there dislikes UT). I didn't think he'd be in an SEC school, b/c all I could see that working out in would be either Vandy, UK, or earlier MSU - but they just got a new coach, and the other two are rivals to UT so very doubtful they would take him. (and for so car. to take another big sec name coach after presumably firing another (Spurrier) would be nuts on their part)
I dunno. I guess I saw him as either the south, lower atlantic coast, a nearby west small school, or at the very furthest, somewhere in ohio or indiana. I guess...hm...I could see him coaching in the C-usa or the MAC as well, or I could see him coaching a low to mid tier school in the ACC or in lower half of the big east....possibly but not really likely also could be mid to low tier schools of big 10 or big 12, but a close one. But I dont really count that last thought, it's more of a friend's idea |

Man, I just don't get the vitriol CPF seems to be a magnet for amongst the Tenn. fan base...especially now that his era is over.
Bob Knight once told a story about a message his wife left him on the fridge after he had been complaining about a particular referee for 2 weeks..."Dear Bob, news flash, Horse is Dead, quit kicking! Love________."

He's past his prime, ob2...way past. The game has changed, and the old offensive lineman just can't make his blocks anymore. Sad, but true.
Will he get another opportunity? Maybe. I worry that his next stop will only confirm what Vol fans have known for years.
Funny that Chavis, and even Clawson, got snapped up quickly, and Phil didn't.
He's a Vol legend, and a coaching legend. First-ballot HOF. All he can do now is tarnish that image. I hope he's smart enough to avoid that trap.

Go Vols. | Agreed but he did say somewhere I believe that he wanted to sit out a year...May be wrong on that but I thought he said something about sitting out a year or 2 and then trying to get back into coaching.
That being said I do hope he gets another job somewhere coaching, I wish him all the best |

And if things go as everyone expects and Florida whallops you, a good 85% of the people on here will take it in stride as a consequence of Florida being really good this year and UT rebuilding. But a good 1 out of 7 posters will be on here railing that they now doubt Kiffin in the SEC.
FWIW, I won't be one of those posters. But that's primarily because I already have my doubts.
