The defense was solid, but those numbers can be misconstrued when you're playing against 2nd and 3rd teamers in the second half...

i appreciated the back up to his statements , and Griff appears to be actually doing reporting here. Which proves that the violations were not much to yell about.(DUH)

The last statement about Monte almost goes against the laws of nature. Picked by Dungy out of New Orleans to be the DC, Tampa Bays defenses were ranked the best defense in the NFL for ten years in a row. He is the best there is right now. The blog statement was baseless and really classless.

Good Point. I just realize that there are folks on this board who will read his stuff and go yeah man I miss Chavis gee shucks. The fact is Monte did what Chavis did in college and then went and did it in the NFL. Griff's failure to mention this is beyond explanation.

There are many different types of reporting and writing in the journalism business and each requires a different approach.

Sometimes the lines can get blurred for the readers.

But that happened before he started covering the Vols. Ooops, he already used that excuse for a glaring omission in another blog. Well, he is online now reading this thread, perhaps he will response.

I'm aware Monte was at N.C. State -- I don't remember the Wolfpack winning a national title.

If you'll remember, the Tampa Bay Bucs were a great defense filled with great players....I think UT has a lot of talent on defense, but I highly doubt it will rank in the top five in the nation, or perhaps even the top 10.

There is a difference between college and NFL -- ask Steve Spurrier and Charlie Weis.

It will be interesting to see how Monte does -- he is well respected, but this is a different game to a degree. I think having Coach O will help him a great deal.

Coach O is the key staff member on defense, IMO
