I beleive the coaches made the assessment that they were happy with the progress in run blocking. The area of concern was with pass blocking.Although this area has some marked improvement.

I saw no reason to vary from that assessment at the Orange and White game.

I think we will see marked improvement over last year from the first game on!

It would be awesome for our OL to run block like they did this spring, and pass block like they did during 07 season ... but I thought the OL would be beasts at beginning of both the 05 and 08 seasons, so I'm wary of predicting/expecting stuff.

I think Cheney might have been the steal of the whole staff and has raised the bar significantly higher than Adkins had.

People blamed Clawson but I don't think Adkins ever produced an OL that was consistently good and well rounded. Cut basically worked around it with the hated "dink and dunk" because they couldn't run block or hold the pocket for more than 2 seconds.

My honest guess is when they say the pass blocking isn't where it has to be... it is already better than what they had under Adkins.

I'm also optimistic about Cheney turning the offensive line around. Barring injuries I think they'll be maulers in the run game and shaky on the pass protection which the offense will have to scheme around. I'm really worried about depth this year and who is going to start in 2010. There's a pretty good chance we'll have to start freshman in 2010. Hopefully, this will help with recruiting.

I'm expecting a big improvement, based on their horrid play last year and what looked like an improved line in the O&W game. The run blocking looked better, but we won't know about the pass protection until the season starts; the QBs only took 2-3 step drops on most of the pass plays.

I think some incoming guys like Schofeld, ad Revis will come in and help solidify the line. I know it will take a couple games to gel, but hopefully it comes before the UF game.

Mitch Browning is considered one of the better OL coaches in the game. Don't forget about him.

It still blows my mind that he's a GA here.

Revis will redshirt I guarantee you. He has a LOT of work to do in the weight room before he can play at an SEC level. He has a very good skill set in terms of his footwork, intelligence, quickness, and attitude. He just lacks the physical athleticism and size to truly be one of the "big uglies." If you look at his photo, the guy still has a lot of baby fat he needs to work off. He was listed at 260 lbs as a senior though I think I read somewhere where he said he is currently up to 275. That's good! If he adds about 20-30 more pounds of muscle and gets his strength up, he'll be awesome! As it stands, I would actually consider Revis more of a "project."

Same here. you can only be a GA for two years correct? i assume after Monty leaves they'll add him onto the staff.

Why would they replace Monte Kiffin with Mitch Browning?

Monty is only gonna coach for a year or two and then Coach O will take over the D. The only reason Mitch is a GA is because we don't have a coaching spot for him.

I'm pretty sure when Monte retires, which I have no idea when that will be, they will hire another guy to coach on the defensive side of the ball.
7 > 3 is not good balance.

Lane said IIRC, that Monty would only coach for a year or two. Ed O can be D cor, James Cregg can move to D line (with assistance for Coach O of course), Willy Mac with secondary, and Coach Thompson with Linebackers. all our bases are covered with D. Idt we'll let a coach like Mitch Browning get away.
