No, the best was last week. Some old dog, God bless him, called in and proposed 3 coaching candidates:

1) Pete Carrol
2) George Quarrels (high school coach for those who may not know)
3) and the piece de resistance... Johnny Majors

Dude was dead serious too.

My fiance suggested Bill Belichick.

"The Patriots are always good right?....So why wouldn't Tennessee hire him?" she says...

Don't laugh until the police arrive. She could turn dangerous.

I explained to her how ridiculous it is. She doesn't really follow sports, so she just thinks UT should hire the best coach out there, and pay him whatever amount of money it takes to get him.

I heard that. I think that might have been the same guy that suggested Fulmer buy a Racing Outfit, i.e. Joe Gibbs.

I stopped listening to call-in sports radio many moons ago. It's as if they screen the callers particularly to find the ones with no ability to put together coherent arguments or rational statements. I recall last year listening to someone talking about win/loss percentage against ranked teams being hung up on for causing trouble, only to be followed by a toothless old geezer who the hosts let mindlessly ramble on about how fans are just out to get the lord and savior of the athletic department.

Apparently, proper sentence syntax and one foot in the real world are qualifications for call-in show rejection.

I heard some idiot on a national radio show call in and suggest Mike Shanahan for the Clemson job...citing that Shanahan was close to going to Florida a few years ago, and wasn't particularly happy with Broncos management.

And, even more absurd, was the Clemson fan who called into the show 15 minutes later and said he would never want Shanahan in Clemson because Shanahan runs an offense similar to Rob Spence's.
