| If one really looked into the intangibles and ties with some of our top choices it makes you wonder.
No doubt both Gruden and Kiffin are in the Top 5...
- Both started their HC job with the Raiders.
- Both have ties to Monte Kiffin, a Defensive Wiz.
- Both are considered highly offensive minded
- Both have been a QB and WR coach
- Both still young (45 & 33)
- Both influenced by the "West Coast Offense"
*This is how one sort of intangible takes place. Did you know at one time Norm Chow and Mike Holmgren were together, at BYU during the 80's. Chow was the OC and Holmgren was the QB coach. In 1984 BYU won the NC using a form of the West Coast Offense. Kiffin learned from Chow and Gruden was taken in under Holmgren. |

| The difference between Gruden and Kiffen, Gruden is a proven head coach Kiffen. DON'T WANT A COACH WHO IS NOT A PROVEN COMMODITY. What is so great about Kiffen? If we hire Kiffen we won't be any better off that we are now. We might as well kept Fulmer. |

He could come in and really do well, or he could come in and run the program even further down. If we are going to take a "chance" on somone, I would rather take a chance on Kiffin than someone like Brewster who is much older. At least Kiffin has proven he can recruit. |

| I heard on a radio show (imagine that) that Kiffin only got the USC job because Petey owed Monte a favor. Take it for what it's worth. I'm not sold on Kiffin either, but if he's UT's man then I'll support him. |

| Gruden hasn't been mentioned on the last few lists. Does it mean they aren't pursuing him or they just don't want to announce it?

| Gruden is in the middle of trying to win the division and getting to the playoffs. They wont announce a decision any time soon. |

All the ones who would know something have been mentioning him. We have no way of knowing much the guys throwing out lists know as much as me and you. |

| Hamilton stated his "list" would be anonymous to protect the coaches from their current employers. |

| Most fans wanted a change, and most radio personalities basically said that was rediculous. When the announcement came, they changed their tune to "it was time and expected". Now with this Gruden thing, the fans are pushing for him and those same "experts" say we're nuts. If he's announced as coach, it'll be deja vu all over again. Contrary to what most think, Tennessee fans (and I mean true fans) are not stupid. |

Those names could come from anywhere including an agent trying to pump up his client's value elsewhere.
There's money to be made everywhere.

| Exactly, and this is extremely important for Hamilton, as well as the university. If he makes the wrong choice, he's toast and he realizes it. |

I expect him to throw a lot of cash at a known guy. Hammy will do everything he can to keep this hire from coming back to bite him. If Gruden comes in, and doesn't win enough, there is no way anyone could blame Hamilton for hiring the wrong guy. That is why he has to be the top choice, but that doesn't mean he'll come here. |

| About the only people mentioning Gruden to UT is US the fans LMAO...Seems the AD doesn't even have him on the list...I believe if UT was actively trying to get this guy ESPN would've said something because that would be a seriously hot topic...Cowher wasn't mentioned either...Let's see how it plays out |
