Tennessee is at the bottom of the page.

I'm glad others can rally behind my idea of rooting against the Vols this season to protect the future of the program.

It's just a link to the Tennessean article. I guess this is new to some people but I have been hearing and reading people advocate that way since 2005.

"Volnation" can be taken two ways.

The website or refering to the Nation of Vol fans.

Radier Nation, Red Sox Nation, on going, etc, so forth, e.g, i.e, what have you.

Unfortunately, losing a lot of games is the only way to cleanse UT of Phil in a timely manner, so that maybe we'll be an elite program again within the next several years instead of just maintaining the status quo mediocrity. Mediocrity will allow Fulmer to stick around, so we need less than mediocrity to get rid of him. A growing majority of UT fans (including myself) believes Fulmer's exit is the only way back to relevance in the BCS picture, and such an exit can only be accomplished by losing more games than the powers that be can possibly accept.

I know it sucks for the players that are there right now, and it's not really fair to them. But players come and go in the span of 4 years. Fans and athletic boosters stick with the team for decades, and sometimes we have to "turn our backs" on the players today so that the football program can be better tomorrow. If we get a stud coach who gets back into the National Championship hunt within 5 or 6 years, then I promise you will not even think about the players that are here now. Our loyalties lie with the program and the university, not with the players. Am I making sense here? Are you willing to continue the quagmire of mediocrity that has become the theme of UT football for the past several years, just so that the feelings of some 18-23 year old college students don't get hurt? Don't get me wrong.....we always care about the men who wear the orange jerseys down on the football field, and we appreciate their hard work. But there comes a time when we have to stand up for something that is bigger than that. There comes a time when we must abandon our affection for the current students, and focus on what is best for the program and the students of the future. That time is now.

Call me a terrible fan and a bad person.......that's fine. Let me assure you, however, that I am not alone.

It's more they noticed a lack of wins by UT.
Fulmer can't right the ship, he's past his prime. He's done a lot for UT and taken this program to great heights, but it's time to move on.

I just think the media is ready to pile on. They were probably planning on writing a story on how bad the attendance was but then it apparently turned out not to be as bad as forecast so the writers had to throw something else out there. If you've been on UTK message boards the past three years then you've certainly seen people post this stuff before, but if your sports info. comes from the Sunday paper and a little water cooler conversation then this may be something new and shocking. This is just how it will be with the media for the rest of season unless the Vols win out starting Saturday.
