Honestly, I wish UT had SERIOUSLY went after Cowher. We may have had to lay out $7-8 million, but you get what you pay for.

Where does this money come from?

That's ludicrous when the university is going through a budget crisis to pay a head coach that much.

If money was the only consideration, Notre Dame would be national champs every year.

I would rather have Dale Jones than Lane Kiffin.

The gamble is the same. Kiffin has proved NOTHING.

OK, he did prove he can be an OC with a team loaded with talent, in a weak conference.

The difference between the two is that Mandarich came into the NFL with some of the most atrocious fundamental flaws I've ever seen in a lineman. Gallery has terrific footwork. The problem is that he's nowhere near quick enough to succeed. He'd be a very good to exceptional guard or center, but he simply doesn't move fast enough to be a tackle at a high level.

Mandarich started for 2 or 3 seasons at guard for the Colts.

Academics hurt ND too. You actually have to be able to read to get into ND.

I agree that Saban would be the better hire but the fact remains that he wasn't available. So then we get someone with many of the same qualities. Hate to burst your bubble but Cower is looking to coach the Cleveland Browns, not a college team. Even if we give him 8 mil, he still wouldn't have come because he's never coached in college and another NFL team will give him that much.

IDK, they were 1 play away from winning the NC.

You are like one of my students that frustrates me when you do not get it no matter how anyone spells it out.

Bill Belichick could get them around it. If money is the answer, he can get the best and brightest. Notre Dame has won championships before with tough standards.
